Pope on dope rant
« on: May 12, 2007, 03:02:27 PM »
Here's the Popes take on 'dope':
http://www.reuters.com/article/topNews/idUSN1223667820070512?feedType=RSS

I don't know or care much what the Pope is about, he's just another guy with an opinion to me, but after reading this poop I can't help but think those in the .gov who believe evolution is a neat joke, carbon dating being the punchline... and that an invisible man had a water walking kid without sex... these are the people behind the drug war? to hell with common sense, physics, and science... it's the "word" of the invisible that really matters... and this Pope guy was, I guess, born with a special antenna in his head to disseminate the invisible mans mantra: "drugs are a scourge"

"I therefore urge the drug dealers to reflect on the grave harm they are inflicting on countless young people and on adults from every level of society," said he, adding; "God will call you to account for your deeds. Human dignity cannot be trampled upon in this way,"

Someone tell the pope it's not the "dealers" that force addicts to steal, it's the govt...  there were no illegal drugs in the USA before 1914, was the country in a state of chaos?? addicted zombies mulling about? uh no, opium dens were attracting "white women" to foreigners, anyone who care to look it up will see the initial reasons to make drugs illegal are a sad joke related in large part to racism... racism which was accepted back in those days.

If addicts had cheap legal access to their drug of choice like Alcoholics & smokers do...  and Americans did before 1914, they wouldn't be ripping people off.

You know what hypes do when they get high?, sit somewhere and vegetate.. yup, I can definitely see the need to outlaw people who vegetate, good call.

Pot smokers do much the same, sit somewhere, laugh at nothing, eat odd combinations of food and vegetate... definitely criminal behavior.

Heroine addicts given cheap legal access to methadone get along just fine, we already know this, yet think it wouldn't apply to other drugs somehow. Even a can collecting street urchin can recycle $40 for a months supply of methadone, rather than needing $40 a hit, 2 or 3 hits a day.

Alcoholics kill & maim untold thousands in DUI accidents, every day folk drop dead of lung cancer by smoking / cholesterol from eating fast food / cancer from what ever, and OD daily on corporate Americas drugs like Oxycontin... all ok, I guess... or not important enough for Mr Pope.

End of rant.

I give it a 2.6 on the I wanna smoke dope rant.

The pope doesn't even live in this country much less vote here so his opinion doesn't hold much power over your life there.

Unless of course you're :noid  :noid  :O

well, on a positive note, since the Pope disapproved only premarital sex and drugs, i take it to mean that PaPa does support Rock n' Roll....  :)

Sounds to me like he was more concerned about the never-ending cartel turf wars down there. Hell, it's causing the kind of wars...That make these people swim the Rio Grande to get here. Maybe the Pope has the right idea.

should the Pope be a spokesman for NORML?
what do you think he should do xmarine, sit by and say nothing?

he hits the nail on the head - sex and drugs are ruining this planet - its his, and others, job to try and at least slow it down ..
