GPS NOTAM for California Pilots

KNID CHINA LAKE NAWS (ARMITAGE FLD)

M0055/07 - MIJI THIS WILL EFFECT OPERATIONS INSIDE THE R-2508 AND POSSIBLY BEYOND. PER FAA ANALYSIS: GPS UNRELIABLE AND MAY BE UNAVAILABLE WITHIN A 343NM RADIUS OF 35-57N / 117-35W AT FL400. THIS AREA DECREASES WITH ALTITUDE TO A CIRCLE OF 307NM RADIUS AT FL250, 228NM RADIUS AT FL100, AND 187NM RADIUS AT 4,000FT AGL. THE IMPACT AREA ALSO EXTENDS INTO MEXICAN FIR 17 MAY 20:00 2007 UNTIL 17 MAY 23:00 2007

"MIJI," btw, is an acronym for "Meaconing, Interference, Jamming, and Intrusion." This seems to say that GPS will be unreliable in half the state of California below 4K', and considerably more at higher altitudes, for three hours in the middle of the day on 5/17.

Time to switch back to VOR's gents.

Wow. Went and did my Solo X-Country to Lancaster from Apple Valley. Flew near that location, but not enough to get shot down :D
All I use is VOR and my heading indicator so I should be alright.

Have you been having long wait times when calling WX Brief?
Now flying as FalconAM.

Long waits, and I've got a complaint about a recent call.  They didn't mention the Beale UAV TFR when I asked for NOTAMS and TFRs last week.  I flew right past Beale.  I was using flight following, so I didn't violate (the TFR says folks chatting w/ ATC can fly within 10 miles) but I could have just as easily flown without ATC and could have been zapped.

That sucks.

VVV.  Ever since the Lockheed Martin takeover of FSS, the entire freaking country has had enormous wait time.  I waited 35 minutes last week to file an IFR flight plan, and when I called clearance delivery, no plan was found!  Silly me.  DUATS from now on.

That could have been disasterous.
Yeah, that's pretty scary.
The other day I filed a flight plan and once I reached my destination, I went to go close it and they apparently had no flight plan listed for me.

Was wondering about 19N - couldn't find it for sale anywhere.
