It's now illegal to even smoke near the entrance of a building, so smokers have fewer and fewer places to go.
Anti-smoking tyraids piss me off when it is a case of having a smoke outside....
-But-
Smoker or non-smoker, common courtesy is a positive personality trait and it simply comes down to the person to decide whether or not their smoking out-weighs other people's 'comfort'.
In most cases, I would be inclined to say that, given fresh air is available and it is not an enclosed space, the smoker is fine to smoke wherever the law permits them to do so.
I would also make an effort to move away from children before I lit my cigarette, as I detest parents who smoke near their children.
If i can, I'll sit down-wind or away from people but I'm not about to bust my balls doing so... smokers have already got **** all places to smoke.
Imagine how ****ing BAD pubs are going to smell when you go to gigs when they ban smoking in venues. Instead of the smell of smoke you'll have the smell of piss and sweaty, fat salamanders instead.
**** that.
