oh sure now some guy wants to rap my knuckles with a wooden ruler, wood imported from some scandanavian old growth forest, harvested and made into a finished product by incredibly over paid and even more incredibly taxed skilled workers than us over here. if you were thinking of a steel ruler well that probably will come from sheffield england so the same applies, commie bastiges.

Europe has it own drag racing circuit with funny cars and top fuelers. Speed Channel often does shows on their drags.

Actually, I was thinking more along the lines of a yard-stick forged in Solingen, Germany.

I know about the drag racing in Europe, just wasn't aware of a culture centered around American muscle cars.

Well, it's not something unique or special. You guys have "Euro meets" in the States and our AmCar meets are not much different in concept.

I'll put it into other words. We have all the dealerships here you guys have over there. I am unaware if you guys have GM/Ford/Chrysler dealers over there. Just seems with the overwhelming costs of fuel over there that there'd be an interest in fire breathing American V8's. But I understand horsepower IS a universal addiction!

Of course we have GM/Ford/Chrysler dealers over here. They even make cars specifically for the European market. In addition GM and Ford own a couple of European car manufacturers, and Chrysler is owned by Daimler Benz. Chrysler cars are made in Belgium, Fords in Germany (I think). GM owns Opel, so most of their cars are made in Germany and by Vauxhall in the UK. There’s also some cross marketing between the different brands; the Voyager van is made under the Chrysler brand in Europe while I believe it is made by Plymouth in the US.

Hehe, not anymore. They divorced last week.

It's nice to see such a diverse assortment of cars over there. I have to say when I was in the Med. back in the late 80's with the navy I never saw any American made cars. Pletny of Opal, Ford of Europe and those types but no Buick Grand Nationals, Camaros, Firebirds or any cars like that. Now I really want to bring my Z over there and make a tour of Europe in it.

Heh, no the big engined American cars are not THAT commonplace here, but I don’t think I can drive for more than 5 minutes without seeing at least one during summertime. I didn’t know Daimler sold Chrysler; what happened, did the American consumers abandon Chrysler after the “merger”?

Also I wonder if you guys really do have dealerships for all European cars. Perhaps you can enlighten me as to whether you have dealerships for these brands: Peugeot, Citroën, Renault, SEAT, Skoda, Fiat and Alfa Romeo? These are all major European car manufacturers, but I cannot remember ever seeing one of their cars in the US (on TV).

A car holiday driving through Europe is something I have planned for quite some time now (never seem to find the time or money though

). Driving your C-Hog down the Autobahn and Autostradas could be very fun indeed!

At one point or another I've seen most of those marks sold here. I still remember the old Renault Fuego tv ads, "Aerodynamically racier than the Porsche 928!"

What wasn't back then.

Daimler sold Chrysler because it was a money pit. The news story I saw said Daimler bought Chrysler for something around 36 billion dollars and sold it to a private firm last week for around 8 billion dollars. Nice return on the investment there. Even had Dr. Z on the podium talking about the transaction.

There's a British gent here in Houston that owns a LS1 Trans Am that he takes across Europe and posts some pics of his adventure. God if I had the time and the money how I'd love to do something like that. I regret not being able to go deeper into Europe when I had the chance. And don't even get me started on my dream of opening C-HOG up on the autobahn. Heck, I'd even pay up to make a lap of the 'ring if it were possible.

Peugeot = Not now but they are rumored to be making a combeack into the US market after they left in the 90's.

Citroën = Never seen one outside of Europe.

Renault = not now but they were here a long time ago I think.

SEAT = Is this the group of cars built in Spain but now owned by VW? If so I thought they were sharp looking when I was in Germany a few weeks ago.

Skoda = Never seen one outside of Europe.
