The very first typhoons had manufacturing faults because the parts were made by contractors not until hawker brought all production in house did the reliability improve.
A good read is Tempest Pilot by Jimmy sheridan.
Hulse check this book out if you have some spare cash I know you love your tiffie. Should be able to find a cheap used copy on amazon.
I would send you mine but it is good and I'm building a nice little collection.
As for wings breaking off in steep dives my tiffie has never done that for me. Not going to mention pilot error but in any steep dive make sure throttle is back and you give yourself enough ALT and Smoothly pull out.
Stick scaling etc?
However I do support you on any improvement to British planes.
