That is the 38L superstrafer which I mentioned above.  It had 8x50s in the nose and the ability to carry 2 wingpods.  Each of the wingpods had 2x50s each.  The grand total was 12x50s for this 38.  Like to see the n00bs in their la7s ho me now. :t

2 X .50's in wing pods?  Sounds like the gun pods carried by the A-26 Invader prior to the block-50 builds when they put 6 X .50's in the leading edge of the wing internally, to clean up the wing, and free up the wing mounts for ord.

They held 400 rpg, but when the Invader mounted 4 of them (1 per wing mount, 4 pods, 8 guns) they took a very serious hit in their speed.

But, as the wing mounts were fairly standard, mounting them to a P-38, especially since they had gun pods laying about after the Invaders were all being retrofitted to the block-50 configuration, I could see it being done.

BUT, it sounds like a field modification, and not a standard configuration, and I can't think of any planes we've got that are field mods in the game.

I want a foo fighter so I can zip around the arenas and mess with peoples heads.  I don't want guns, rockets, etc, I just want to be able to blow through a buff formation at 30 k with me doing 800 knots so I can make other guys go 'doubleyou tee eff?' :D

Please HTC?

German 88mm FlaK36 towed artillery - player manned ack to 35K altitude, indirect artillery, long range direct fire
Judy for blue water fliers and CV ops
G.55 light perked interceptor and best of the Italian planes and a treat for some Luffenwobble pilots.
Stuka JU 87G Gustav (refitted D model) version with the twin 37mm BK FlaK18 tank killing cannons.
P-39D/P-39Q/P-400 Airacobra - Soviet model, lend lease in the Soviet plane set.
Pe-2 Peshka to give the Russians a bomber.  Il-2 and Pe-2 working together with La-5's and Yaks for cover would make for a great Eastern Front SEA event.
Ki-84-Ic (Mark Ic) - Lightly perked. Version against Bombers, with two cannons Ho-5 (20 mm) and Ho-105 (30 mm) in wings.
Mitsubishi J2M "Raiden" Bomber interceptor.
He-177 Greif only German Heavy bomber produced in numbers.  Nice altitude, bomb payload, speed.  Just normal ord, no guided rockets or bombs.
Yak-3 Short legs but possibly a very fun dogfighter.  Considered one of the best at the time.

* Hard to find good additions to Japanese planeset.... any bombers are worse than the Ki-67. The Oscar is a lighter, weaker version of the Zeke.  Their twin engines fighters all are pretty weak.  Ki-100 not different enough from Ki-61 to justify the work.

* Other than the perk worthy A-26 and a Russian version of the P-39, I'd avoid any more American additions until the other plane sets have been filled out a bit more.

* As the Late War Arenas hold the greatest interests, I don't place too much emphasis on adding early war aircraft.  Yes, they have use in EW SEA events, but I think more emphasis should be placed on creating a viable scenario for a time frame than trying to recreate particular battles (which were, if well planned and executed, pretty one sided IRL).  I think there are plenty of things that could be created in the Mid-War and Late-War time frame.

God has spoken....
