The 109 G-14 and 109 K4 are the rides more likely to get you out of most Main Arena situations.
At the moment, the G-14 is my favourite. I do not load the wing gondolas or use the 20mm hub cannon.
Where available, I always take the 30mm cannon on 109s.
-Go to this thread for more info- ^ I detailed a few things to keep in mind while trying to fly the K4 there.
It includes how to use the 30mm cannon and how to fight in the 109.
The K4 and G-14 are very similar but as someone said earlier in the G-14 you trade speed for turning ability and turning ability for speed in the K4.
I find it a little easier to land hits with the 30mm cannon in the G-14 for some reason.... perhaps because I'm going a little slower all the time?
As for the lack of ammo thing.... 65 rounds of 30mm is HEAPS when 1 round can take the wing off or critically damage almost everything in the air.
Given that you will fire 2 - 3 rounds when trying to fire 1 it possible to land 12 or even more kills with the 65 rounds.
Anyway, read the thread, I put some good info in there.
If you're not going with the later models and you just want more ammo (which is understandale if you're new) I suggest the 109 G2 with gondolas.
That should give you 500 rounds of 20mm cannon (i think... it's close to 500 in any case). Set your convergence to 400 yards on the 20mm and 200 and the 30mm.
cowling machine guns are good at 650. (I've discovered that setting them to 200 has no benefit).
