Transformers, the movie
« on: May 23, 2007, 06:21:39 PM »
I haven't seen this much rabid fan hype since... o gosh when the star wars prequels were announced.

Anyone following it, and wondering if it can possibly live up to the expectations?

The biggest thing I have been hearing about is the MPAA rating. Of course us mid-thirties people who had them as kids are adults, and want a kill-em-shoot-em-up action movie, but since they ARE toys, should the movie be accessible to kids?

From what I hear it is going to be "PG-13", but just on the edge, it is said Spielberg went in an argued it down from "R"...

personally, I am hoping for an "Independence Day" type movie, about as amazing (it was at the time) and action packed, yet if the plot line holds true, there should be alot more "killing" that ID.

There's also a few "bummers" about the movie that I know of so far. "Megatron" will not be a gun, but a B2 bomber, VW won't allow the likeness of their car so Bumblebee is now a Camaro for cripes sake, and Soundwave (my personal favorite of them all) will not be in any of the movies (yes sequals are planned from what I hear.
I don't know what to put here yet.

Ive posted a few trailer links here in the past.

Its a Spielberg project, so it should be fairly decent.

But doesn't the inclusion of Michael Bay offset the presence of Spielberg?

I object to you preemptively calling me a dork.  You should wait until after us dorks post to call us out.

I hope it will be good, but I think I'll wait for the dvd.

They got the guy who did the voice of Optimus Prime in the cartoons to reprise his role here, which is cool.

The original trailer that had the Helicopter landing in the Middle East with the flickering holographic pilot?  Wicked cool.

Not wild about Michael Bay, here's hoping it doesn't suck.
