Frame rate and 8800gtx
« on: May 25, 2007, 08:18:54 AM »
I'm trying to figure out how to increase my frame rate. Am running a 8800 GTX at 1280 x 1024, monitor at 85 Hz and am maintaining a rate of 75 fps.  It stays constant and is very smooth but would like to be able to increase it. I have also loaded and run Nvidis's N-Tune program.

Just curious - why do you want to get a higher fps than 75?

The reason you're frame rate stays constant at or near 75fps is because you have Video Sync set in your display driver.  Vid Sync makes the game run much smoother than having it off (I've found) but with it off, you're FM will soar.  But then, who cares, other than for bragging rights, that I get a frame rate of 175?  My advice is to keep things just like they are.

Actually, there are a couple of really good threads here on "Vsync" and "triple buffering" you should check out.  Very good information there.
