Xbox 360 problem
« on: May 25, 2007, 01:48:37 PM »
So I bought my Xbox 360 less than 1 year ago.  I wanted to play some baseball and my screen froze and went fuzzy like i lost cable.  Then 3 red lights showing on my power button.  I called Microsoft and they are sending me a box to ship it back to repair it.

My question is this a common occurance with Xbox 360?

Has anyone had to send there Xbox in for repair?  How was is service?

With the vista problems i have playing Aces High, and not having an Xbox I am going to go crazy.:(

Never heard of that happening. I wonder if it was a psu failure on the box.

LOL, the red ring of death. That is what the guys that play TDU call it. I have a 360, so far I have had it about six months no problems. But I have heard a lot of guys say that their 360s crapped out on them around the 1 year mark. A lot of guys think it is from the CPU over heating. I bought a cooling fan for mine. It was about 12 bucks.

Those two websites should give you enough info on the subject to better understand what is going on. BTW PM me and I will give you my gamer tag.

Thanks BBBB

That is funny one article wrote that alot of problems came after playing Ghost Recon Advanced Fighter 2.  Guess what... I just finished that game like a week ago.

I would PM you with my game tag but I do not play on line.  Maybe I should start :).  Once I get it back of course.

Online play is where it is at. It makes some games 100 times better than they really are. COD 3 sucked off line, but I love it online. Same for TDU. You should check out xbox live. It is worth it.
As for GRAW I have heard a lot of guys say that it taxes the hell out of the 360 system. A cooling fan might help when you get your 360 back. It is worth the money. There is no doubt there are some heating issues going on. Put your hand in the back of the system after about an hour of game play. It feels like there is a space heater back there. I have seen guys make there own out of PVC pipe and a few 9mm fans. It looks kind of like a supercharger.
This is the system I have. http://gear.ign.com/articles/703/703791p1.html I bought mine at EB games for around 12 bucks. It was opened. A guy bought it and then returned it the same day. It works fine. A new one is around 20$s. Still cheap when you figure we are dealing with a 400$ system. It can be a little loud but like your PCs fan you don't really notice it after awhile.

Check out this water cooled 360! It looks like it took the guy a while to do it but I bet it was worth the effort.

This site has everything you need to mod your 360. Some of the stuff looks cool. But I am not that much of a 360 fanboy that I would go though all of that to tweak mine.

And if you want to mod yours without the work.

A friend of mine had the same problem.

He shipped it back, they told him it couldn't be fixed, and sent him a brand new 360.
