Yeah! Loved the engine, but missed the strategy that was involved in the original Kesmai Battletech. You'd sign up for a house unit, or join/form a merc unit in the original, and fight to disrupt production, capture mech factories...even force planets to change houses.
I followed 3025 for
YEARS, waiting faithfully like many others for it to become more than vaporware, but still thought it missed that whole 'history' and 'why are we doing this' feel that the original Battletech game and stories gave you. I think that's a huge part of any successful online game design these days; Mechwarrior and 3025 were fun, but failed to hold folks' interest long-term.
I still think that the whole FASA Battletech Universe is one of the most fertile, unused genres in MMO's currently. Heck..how many hundreds of thousands of players still have Marauders painted in House Davion or Wolf's Dragoon's colors stashed away somewhere...? Quite a market there with tons of background material waiting to be used.
