Im all for some sort of manned artillery, but it has to function like a GV in the way that if the gun gets killed so does the operator. We have enough 5" heroes "sniping" from CVs with no risk to their own pelts as it is. :)

Well, I don't think it will ever happen... It would take a major overhaul of the game, to bring any realism to the ground war scene...
I have the feeling that the makers are not willing to do that, as long as they are making money as it is..... Sad but true....

Geordi; beam me down in a Brand New T 34..... LOL!!!!

What ever, it's fun enough.... I guess...

But the Ether Aces probably like it, if they fixed it....

We do have a mobile artillery vehicle, the LVT4 mounted with a 75mm howitzer.

Geez man, A short barrelled 75 pack howitzer is Hardly "Artillery"....
Besides, the armor was so limited that MG could shoot right thru it....
The one's that the Marines used at Saipan, didn't survive the first day!!!

So basically, you're looking for a heavy field artillery piece like the 155mm howitzer mounted on a T-34 chassis and with the Tiger's armor?  I don't think you have enough perks for it.

Still not big enough.  We obviously need Keith Laumer's BOLOs added to the game.

I know, but i was thinking about something along the lines of the Wespe or Hummel. Should be easy targets for almost anything but when they dont get slaughtered their cannons would be effective.

LOL, I was talking about, (Realism)!!!
Not that goofy fantasy war stuff....

In Reality, the only (spawn) points for AV's, or Field Arty, would be Railheads.... Or LST's on the beach... Both would be limited as to the amount of equipment they could carry....

I think that there are two camps, Sim lovers, who seek reality in the game... And all the complexity of real war...
And Vid game lovers, who just want to run up their score... Like asteroids..

And never the twain shall meet!!!

Thinking seriously.... As the way things stand now in AH...With players popping in and out at random... It would really be impossible for the makers to bring more realism to the game....
It started as a flight sim.... It's the best there is too!!!
Land and Sea, are pretty much just a byproduct.... Or something for the pilots to shoot at when bored....

Oh well, so it goes in life...

A very large portion of the AH community seems to enjoy the land warfare part of the game.
