Brooke: Thanks for Invite
« on: June 06, 2007, 11:21:25 AM »
Hi,

Saturday, June 2 was my 1st Scenario adventure.  Thanks for the invitation.  That is exactly what I have been looking for here to AH.  When I came here 3 months ago, I naively expected a military type orginization.  I expected at the very least to be added as a junior member to a squadron type organization as low guy in an element.   Well, that is what I am still looking for.  Are there other adventures here to AH similar in nature?

A guy I met tanking asked me to join his squad, but that was a mistake.  Their team is pretty good at doing the furball.  It is still too early to be much value to anybody until I get more experience here.  Like most of the MA's it is just one big free-for-all and few I have seen use flight tactics.  Dogfighting tactics as an element, yes some guys do.  But in MA I have not seen it in flight or squadron organized tactics.  I did see it with your JU-88's sweep the other day in the scenario beta.

I hang out a lot to the TA.  Every session I learn something new or a better way to do things.

I've been slowly reading and digesting "In Pursuit" by Johan Kylander.  He doesn't believe in the furball.  I pretty much operate under his direction, except I venture solo, and of course usually pay the consequences.  I look around out on the fringes or up high and have no problem finding lone guys willing to duel or, oddly enough, a lot of guys don't watch their six and one (me) can sneak up behind them rather easily.  The problem is, few guys operate alone.  Another guy or two shows up, I boogie on out.  My off-line gunnery practice at 200 yards or closer with the circling drones is started to make a difference, but I am still quite the noobie here and quite green.

Note to HTC----this is a great game / sim.  Just flying around in the neato clouds up high and the mountains is quite a thrill.  Boggles my mind how you can program such a great masterpiece.  I would like to know how the programming is done just as a flow chart example,  but I can understand keeping it a secret or need-to-know.

Thanks.

It's never to early to be of value to a squad.  If you're invited, you should definitely join one.  Nothing says you'd have to stay with that particular squad forever.  Those guys are out there having fun just like you, and they've all been the guy who's just been here for a little while as well.

Welcome!:)

Daubie:

i fly alone alot, and i love the single duels i find, but also when others jump in to help the nme its cool,  cuz it forces you to up your SA, and being able to fight multiple cons is a plus in MA, at first i was always getting killed real easy now two cons are easy to fight, and i have survived as many as 8 cons on me plus at one point i was jumped by 5 nme planes and killed all 5 of them,

so my advice to you is keep at it, and enjoy those rare 1vs1 in MA, and when more then one jump on you,   don't bug out, but make them work there prettythang off to kill you. and after awhile it will be very difficult for them to do that.  {and you will be known to the nme as a fighter not a runner,which is far more respectable}
the satisfaction of killing multiple nme, is truly worth all the deaths it will take to get there.
dont give up
last month i got  549 killz,286 in hurri2c
348 deths,
i will bet 90% of those killz i was outnumberd and in nme terrirtory

naaa... you'd do fine.  Based on your thoughts, I'd say you'll fair better than 75% of the rest of the MA horde as is.

....no really.  :D

There seems to be almost as many players as there are squads. Hmmm, seems that way sometimes, even if it's not the case.

More to the point, with so many squads out there you will find the one that suits your particular game play style. For instance, if you like a regimented squad with a specific plane they fly or rules then you can find them here. If you want a "I'll be there in the same country, maybe this friday" type of squad then you will find it, too. And...everything in between. Some squads are made up for beginners who just want numbers. Others made up of old guys who've been doing it for a bit and don't want to mess with training new squadies anymore. Again, there are those types and everything in between.

The important thing is you take your time and fly with around some of those guys who you think fly the way you do. Look at how they do things. Is that the way you like it? If you're new can you learn anything from them? Really? How do you know they know anymore than you do? There is no rush to get into a squadron. Be chosey. If you are compatable with them and how they fly then you 'll know it.

Hope this helps.
