Well, despite the low threshold for tolerating new players and rehashed threads in this obviously

thread, there are a couple problems with your idea, that have been mentioned:
1 - land mines in WWII through to today are not selective in who they go off on. I say this from 20 years experience as an Army Combat Engineer, and I've actually handled many various AP and AT mines in those 20 years. AHII does try to stick to some historical basis for the game mechanics as much as possible while supporting game play. Mines that target only bad guys is too far out of the box for this game, more for a FPS like Quake or BF2.
2 - Griefers and shades would love mines. You'd find them as you tried to leave your own base all the time. TT would be littered with them. Spawn points would be covered in them. With the AP mines you mention, it would be impossible to capture a field or base if the map room were piled deep in AP and AT mines. In fact, you would probably be able to plant them IN a VH, so you could pick up a lot of kills just by dumping your mines in the VH.
It's a game and meant to feature combat in play. Static counter-mobility obstacles and defenses are not combat.
3 - Getting sneaked up on? You need to adjust your sound preferences. You should always be able to hear another approaching vehicle.
Meatwad: Squeaker season is just beginning. Gonna be a long one.
DaddyAck: The ones you are referring to are too busy giving that play by play to hear you tell them to shut up anyways (same ones that text over the Orange Help Channel #6 all the time, clueless about the different channels).
Just make one polite attempt to direct them toward the text buffer away from VOX, or end their play by play..... then squelch them without ceremony if they keep doing it. It will help keep your blood pressure down and concentrate on the game.
To all: We're all getting very short-tempered with the noobs. Tank is dry on patience. Try to make 1 attempt at politely pointing the noobs in the right direction. Then make liberal use of squelch if they fail to take the hint. We may be able to cull a few pilots out of the noob herd with some effort, and they is an expected high number of noob players this summer.
http://trainers.hitechcreations.com is where I send them most often. I wish accounts were forced into some limited tutorial for this game, as far too many jump straight into LW without a clue about the learning curve.
Not much to be done in the forums except a quick "this is why not" answer, or ignore it and move on.
