Ok, I have a crap card coming in my new system.

What are the top choices for Aces High?

$200, $300, $500?    Got ideas in all prices over $200?

Thanks.

Aces High is a directx9 game, so you don't need the new 8800 GeForce cards.

The top price/performance ratio atm is the radeon X1950 Pro, wich prices around 200$

I personnaly run an X1600Pro card for 70$ on a AMD64 4000+ cpu, wich get me around 50fps in furballs in 1280x960

Thanks.

I went with the 7900 GS since the Radeon you mentioned wasn't in stock.

I just ordered a GeForce 7950 GT.  According to Tom's Hardware latest VGA charts (where they compare dozens of different cards), the 7950 GT is about the same or faster than the X1950 Pro on most games.  The two are about the same price on newegg.com.  Also, the X1950 Pro is much more power hungry than the 7950 GT, and I only have a 375 W power supply in my machine.

Here's the Tom's Hardware link to the speed comparisons:

I got my nVidia GeForce 7950 GT installed in my Dell Dimension 9200 (Intel E6420 processor).

I turned on 8xS antialiasing and highest quality video settings in the nVidia control panel.  In Aces High, I set highest object detail and farthest ground detail.  I'm running at 1280x960 resolution.

With that, I'm getting 50 fps in the ndisles map offline, launched NW, sitting on the runway in a P-51D (with the ack shooting at the orbiting enemy planes), looking straight ahead.

Been running a GeForce 8600GTS about a month. Like it a lot. Not as expensive as the 8800 put pretty capable.

I went with the 7900gs as well. Works great - 70-75 FPS at all times with vsync on and antialiasing boosted.
