refueling truck/resupply truck

i know, tis an irrelevent equipment, but i was thinking it would be awesome if you could drive a truck out to your buddies plane that just so happend to fall short of the airfield.

okay so take more fuel, or pay attention to your fuel gauge.
well sometimes you get shot in the fuel tank and you fertilize the flight path with petrol, and you fall a couple of miles short, and you might just be carriering a rather large pelt with you, say 8-100 kills :) and you aren't able to land them cause you couldent glide in.

i think it would be amazing to drive a truck out to the plane to re-arm, refuel the plane, so they can possibly take off and land at the nearby airfield.

i mean if a pilot landed off the airfield successfully, the aircraft would be recovered.

hey it just seems like a cool idea, maybe mount a couple of .50 cals on the truck for a light defense.

either way it would neat to have a re-arm refueling truck.

i'd appreciate a serious look at the idea, its not a terrible idea, and i dont think it ruins any game play. ... yeah

-gristle ........is tired.

lots of people have wished for rescue missions etc etc.

I think this will be a nice touch for planes to get a tiny amount of fuel just to get them that little bit further to concrete.

Obviously the trucks wouldnt repair any damage and if you did have a leak the fuel gained from the truck would also run out.  A jeep could be used for this purpose.

It will add another very minor piece of immersion.  I'm sure during WW2 airfields were a hive of activity with jeeps, trucks and all sorts driving everywhere.  A little bit of fun for the noobs also.

A fuel truck would be cool.  I'm sure they could model a bigger explosion for when it gets strafed.  But it would need to be modelled etc.

I was thinking short term addition.  Add a small can as "fuel supplies" for the loadout on the jeep.  Use the same way as vehicle supplies.

For realism though only a small amount of fuel.  Otherwise planes will be landing on vbases if un-damaged with ammo and re-upping.

I'm talking enough gas to get you back to base not a full re-load.

Only 1 refuel per sortie.

that would be usefull, but, i know alot of planes have self sealing fuel tanks, on this game they dont work.Probably so someone in a Zero doesnt get mad cuz the F6F wont burst inot flames.

Avgas weighs about 6 lbs per gallon...that would be one tiny fuel truck.
The average avgas truck today holds about 1200 gallons, and pictures I've
seen of WW2 types looked alot larger.

Since most of our larger aircraft types are Jet fueled these days, our
trucks with Jet A are usually in the 5-10K range.

right well my local airport has a fuel truck that only holds 5000 gallons, and that is small. so i just thought of downsizing.

but like lots of stuff in the wish list its just a neat idea.

IMO, if you don't save yourself enough gas to get home or if you decide to stick it out for "one more kill" with a fuel leak you've got no need to have your name in lights.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.
