AAR Summer Storm Frame 2
« on: June 09, 2007, 02:15:14 PM »
Was a good night for the Mongrels.

CM's if you note we were 2 pilots over our 17 max, but both TANK1 and Vaderr flew with the 347th in LA5's. 68Falcon can confirm that.

We rolled from A37 and headed south west for lake at 9.12.9. Once on station there we loiterd about till CUTT who had the A20's up north along the coast could tip off the radar at the port in the hopes of drawing off the enemy CAP over A75 to the north. Once that was done 68Falcon gave us the go ahead to head out to A75. We broke above the cloud layer around 8k or so and came in to A75 from the south at about 9k. 68Falcon and the 347th were about 3 minutes behind us, but lower and below the cloud layer. We were attacked by at least 4 Fw-190's who keep the fight high and used the sun to their advantage. With in a couple minutes we were engaged by 8 or 10 Fw-190's. Our pilots did a good job of evading and keeping the 190's at bay while climbing and bringing the fight back to them. Soon smoke trails flaming fighters could be seen as we were getting getting the upper hand with the 190's. About that time some 109's came in and forced a few of us lower than we wanted and below the cloud layer. After that the 347th had been spotted, but it was too late. They did a great job of hammering A75 that had several burning objects. One of our forums pilot reports from dichodog reads:
Quote
I caught a 109 chasing 68 at 300 and tossed a couple of rounds at him hoping to get him to break.  I shot behind on the first one and got to 200 in a left turn so I pulled tighter and threw 2 cannon rounds and some mg at him.  Got a magic bullet from one of my cannons on his port wing and he went in.  From my angle I thought he broke under me which was cool because the 68th guy got away.

We lost 3 Yak pilots. One to a pilot wound that could not make it home. Another crashed and one due to an enemy Fw-190.

68Falcon thanks for making TANK and Vaderr feel so welcome. They really appreciated it. Vaderr said you were very gracious.

Of our 19 pilots 16 landed. We had a total of:

15 kills
9 Assists

Couple of screen shots.

forHIM and daddog just before the 109 goes in.

One of those unbelievably lucky shots at about 2 O'clock as a fire a couple 37mm rounds into a passing by 190.

Hats off to Cutt and the 325th Checkertail Clan, Daddog and the 332nd Flying Mongrels.
The diversion created by the 325th eased the attack from the South by the 332nd and the 347th. The Flying Mongrels skillfull tactics kept the enemy CAP high and totally engaged as we slipped under (NOE) destroyed all the strat and VH on the first attack. The few that did realize that we where there where quickly dispatched by pilots from the 332nd. The 347th rtb'd to A39 reformed and completed our assigned mission by destroying all remaining hangers.

Tank and Vaderr are a compliment to the 332nd. They flew with us like they have been part of our squad for years:aok
