I apologize
« on: June 15, 2007, 11:41:14 PM »
I was unaware of an orders update and had no clue we were to hold takeoff. I had to fill in as CO tonight, and had us roll at GO. Saw nobody around us, and then wondered if I was at the right base.

Then we were told to wait, so I had us land. Just as we had touched down and I was trying to figure out what happened, FATE rolled and we cut corners trying to catch them. We never made it to 16k but came in on trailing units of FATE just NE of 64.

What happened next was a swirling mass of fur. Our survivors limped home, 2 had operational planes and we went to 60. When we got there the base had 2 low 190s sitting in the ack. We made a couple passes then about 10-15 enemy appeared and gutted us.

I would have liked to have been over the A20s at 16k at the target, but we just couldnt be there and high at the same time because of my screwed up take off. Sorry FATE, and team.

FiLth, no need to apologize, I had sent the updated orders on Friday Morning.  I knew some would not get them.  I did not give you enough time.  I'm under the impression you recieve copies of the orders from someone else and so, friday morning was just too late for me to have sent them.  I did explain the update 5 minutes for the start on command ch, but I'm sure many were too busy gathering up their squadmates.  I still had a few that were unclear of the updates.  Overall, had you come in at the correct alt, it still wasn't going to be high enough.  I've spoken with the Axis command and concluded that even it everything went perfectly, your flight would have still been too low. In the end, you did help out in other ways for other areas.   to MGD as well.

Raw Prawns, I knew that you guys would be overwhelmed if you made it to A60, and my timing was off.  I should have held you back 5 minutes more.  I had your squad to that mission because it was supposed to help lighting the load for 4 other squads.  Bad timing on my part.

The Enemy did a great job at choosing to defend A60 and A64 and attacking our Radar Factory.  They had lighting the load over the port and city strat to re-inforce A64/A60.  We still hit A60 hard, so overall, we did great.

to the Radar Factory Squads, VFS1000 Cyberhawks, Isle of Misfit Toys and 65th Fighter Roges.  They did an excellent job at attacking the Enemy Attack Force.  They stayed for a 2nd attack and were let loose afterwards which payed off.

Dantoo's idea of taking IL2s was an excellent choice.  Also dantoo, it appears there was a strong defense still during your 2nd and 3rd runs, but they were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.  The flight route worked out.  With some luck ofcourse. :)  325TH and Damned did a great job for their split forces.  I gambled wrong on expecting them to intercept you.  But in the end, you kill a few fighters and ALL the bombers in your flight survived.

USMC and Nightmare and Fate, my plans were not good enough for that target.  The Axis had a great counter plan that worked well.  Planes were our limiting factor.

The Bad guys kicked arse.  WTG as well to the 347th Fighter Wing.  You guys did more than great.

I'd be willing to post my orders if Vater is willing to post his.  Email me them so i can put them on my website to share Vater.  PM me for my email address.

Maybe someone could critique them if they want too.  I hope everyone on both sides had fun.   All FSO participants.
Time's fun when you're having flies.

No worries Filth! We all did what we could.

Destiny brought you here, now FATE will deal with your six!

Damn, we're in a tight spot!

Any slight confusion over orders just adds to the realism.

This remains one of the best set of frames I've taken part in. The co-ordination between squads was awsome.

There's nothing quite like getting 10 miles from target laden with bombs and watching the defense being ripped apart by your escort who arrived banb on schedule 2 minutes before you.

to all the frame CO's

Kermit, in regaurds to A68 flashing the whole frame after it started in the beginning. Did one of your pilots land there or something? or was it a glitch that needs to be looked at?

68 was supposed to be flashing inthe beginning.
A single A20 did go back to A64 and then back home near the end of the event and some fighters did get close to 68.  I'd imagine it flashed a quite some time throughout the event.
