I need some serious help.  I've been having issues since i dl'd AH, but i love the game and want to make it work some how.  The first issue i had was every time i closed out of AH, i'd have to restart my computer before it would let me play it again.  Then, every time i hit f12 to use voice chat, it automatically muted my headset.  Tonight, i took off in a p51, i got up to about 2000ft then all of a sudden it says i crashed then my computer froze.   My computer's new, i'm running windows vista in win2000 compatability mode.  I have an amd 64 x2 dual core 4200+.  Any help anyone can give me would be great.  Thanks in advance

Clay

Clay,

Had the same exact issues with my new HP dual core w/Vista.  After three weeks I went and bought a new video card and everything seems fine now.  My new computer is the same as yours only the Nvidia 6150 could not answer the call.  I had your results, stuttering, discos and lag. Installed the GEForce 8500 GT in about 5 minutes and all seems well so far.

Suggesting a new card is pricey.  I still  am figuring our how I want to manage the 59 processes that run at startup.  Running in XP compatability FYI

Thanks

JB17

ouch, new card? hehe..that is kinda expensive.   Right now i'm running a radeon x800.   I tried updateing the drivers last night and it worked for a little while, but the first time i got shot down it crashed.  I'll try running it in xp mode.  Thanks for the suggestion!

Clay, I was having problems with Vista with warping and random crashes.  I finally had to get an old copy of XP and set up dual boot.  Buying XP is alot cheaper now-a-days than a new VC.  I use to run AH on an x800 with no problems so that shouldn't be your problem.

I understand from reading here that there are problems specific to running AH2 with AMD processors under Vista (having to run in compatibility mode). I run an Intel CPU so I don't have personal experience in that department. However, as far as vid cards go, I've had good results with an Nvidia 7600GS and VERY good results with a 7900GS, both of which are not real pricey - especially the 7600. FWIW...

Your video card is just as capable as the other cards suggested here, so don't think you have to run out and get a new card. I suggest you post the text from running dxdiag here. Not sure if you access it differently in Vista. If it's not in the control panel, then open Run and type "dxdiag"

Again, check out the sticky on Vista and AMD. You might find something helpful there.

I log on and play for 5-10 minute then lock up. FR will be 60-75 when it happens and can still hear all sounds in game. Bad Video Card???? Can not sign back on till I restart my computer.

run dxdiag, and post about the first third here. They look for driver and IRQ conflicts as well as what your system has for hardware.

jtdragon, I'm not sure if Intel Processors need it. Yet lots of people have been having troubles when using Multi-Core CPUs on AH. Most likely that was your problem, not the video card. Yet if it's working fine now don't bother performing the steps mentioned below.

Since lots of people have had problems with Multi-Core CPUs, they installed an AMD Dual Core Patch and the majority of the issues were fixed. Yet I'm still not sure if this persists to your case, since you do not have an AMD processor.
