Nokia cell phones

I have a question, anyone here have a Nokia cell phone?

ever had a Nokia phone?

I used to have 2 different ones, then went to upgrade and my carrier didn't have any Nokia's... I got some P.O.S. LG and I have hated every second of owning it....

I have been with the carrier for 9+ years, and switching isn't something I would look forward too just because of uncertainties of coverage area, among other things (yes I know I can keep my cell number)

I DO have a great service plan, and am in the market for a new phone since my "contract" expired, and looking it over seems my carrier only carries 3 Nokia's.

to start off, I HATE flip open phones.

I LOVED my last 2 Nokia phones. great battery life, sturdy, reliable, and the best reception of all the phones I have tried.

so the 6265i and the 6235i are basically my only options with my current carrier.

anyone have either of them? got another Nokia and recommend it?
I don't know what to put here yet.

I can offer two tips.

Do not go with T Mobile for multiple reasons. As soon as I get deployed Im taking a copy of my orders to them and canceling my contract.

Second, its not nokia but, do not even think about getting a razor or a razor look alike. Ive had mine 6 months now. And its falling apart. Ive always been good with cellphones. But it cant handle any kind of rough treatment. And its a flip phone. But some of the variations are not.

I love the Nokia "candy bar" style phones. My old 3589i got crushed (damned race car) and Verizon didn't have any Nokia phones like it so I just bought one off ebay and had them activate it. I'm having my old one fixed and keeping it for a back up. I'll keep my two old Nokias until they just won't work with the network anymore.

Your the first I've met that doesnt like LG

My son and my wife both had Nokias and ended up bringing them both back cause they didnt work right.
I've had my LG like 3 years now and nary a problem with it.

Nothing fancy. no Camera or any other doodads. I dont need  nor want em.

It does however do the one thing I want it to do consistantly.

My wife and daughter both had LG phones. Two or three each, as upgrades. They were all crap. Never as reliable or able to get a signal as my Nokia, and half the battery life. Dead displays and dropped calls were the rule and not the exception.

The Samsungs they have now are okay. The Motorolas a few friends have are decent.

I'm looking for the newest Nokia "candy bar" type phone that will work with Verizon now, so I can pick one up. My original Nokia should be repaired soon, we're keeping it to use when the other phones they have screw up.

Virgil, I WISH I could get my old 8260 going...

backstory:
when I killed the battery on my Nokia (4 hour call to my insurance search me or mustaine and insurance on this board to read the story) I HAD to get a new phone. Batteries were't for sale anywhere I knew and this is my only phone. I don't use a land line of any kind. no reason.

That phone had the BEST reception, and clarity of any cell phone ever, even without an exposed "antenna".

I would give anything to get it back!

Anyway when I got a "new" phone from my provider they had the "30 days if you don't like it return it" policy.

within 2 days the audiovox phone I picked out was back at the store, and online I had found a new battery for my Nokia 8260.

I told them kill this phone, I want my old phone back. They said the "upgraded" my service to some new fangled digital thingy and I could NOT revert, no matter what. I was SOL.

You have NO Idea how pissed I was. I spent 4 days going to every mall kiosk seeing if any of the cell providers would activate my old phone. Not a single one would.

US Cellular $%^&*($ me with a 10 foot rubber #$%^.

So here I am, I have to choose a new phone, they saw how PO'd I was and gave me this LG piece of worthless mule crap even though I was supposed to pay $50 or something.

I discontinued the "service plan" thingy that was $4 insuring the phone against anything (to save money), and within 30 days the lcd screen was blanking out. I NEVER dropped it once until 1 time in a parking lot....

it landed on the butt end and broke of a part of plastic... the part the holds the battery in. $175 repair according to the US Cellular service rep.

for the past 1.5 years my battery is held on by scotch tape.

the screen goes out 2-3 times a day, and the ear speaker never works. answering a call. I have to answer, switch to speaker phone, and get the caller to say "hello?" then I can sometimes go back to a private conversation.

OH and the "front" lcd thingy when the flip is closed, well that has been a garbled mess of lighted up poo since about the same time. when working "right" it scrolls the time for a few seconds then goes blank. whe a call comes in it is supposed to show the caller ID. I had to turn off the auto answer when I flip the phone open just to see who's calling me. most of the time the front thing just shows random illuminated cyan dots that run my battery dead.

for a year and 1/2 i have to each week peel off the scotch tape, clean off the gunk, and re-attach my battery.

with my personal life and finances going to cht a while ago there was literally nothing I could do... NOW with a job and a salary, and all that cool stuff I am going to move on.

I sent an email describing this whole fiasco to Nokia, just to see if they have any reaction, but I did state almost verbatim what DREDIOCK said.

ALL I use the phone for is communication. It is my main line. I don't want ringtones, I don't want a camera, I don't want internet, I just want a phone that works GREAT as a PHONE! that's it. give me a monochrome screen I can read, and great battery life / reception. I will be happy for decades with it.

sad thing is those "monochrome" screen phones are left only for the sad people that buy their phone at a gas station and "pre pay".

I use upwards of 900 minutes a month as my primary mode of communication, and I am guessing I am not the only adult not into the latest R&B ring tone that needs a quality cellular phone.

Yes the consumer market is full of suckers, and they are what makes corporations money, but why can't they at least offer something to the likes of me?

ok sorry rant lol

Odd, the 6015 I picked up on ebay is an original Verizon phone, from around NJ, and Verizon activated it for me for free, and swapped it over. If you look on ebay, you can even find them new, and the good sellers will check compatibility for you, or give you the number off the inside of the phone, and you can call your local store. I've seen used, refurbished, and new Nokias for Verizon on ebay in the last couple of weeks.

I looked at a new Nokia for Verizon at Amazon, but Amazon said it wouldn't work here.

I think your local guy is feeding you B.S., by the way. I bet your old phone will work fine, they just want to keep you from backing out of your "upgrade".

Now, I have to admit, my plan/account has 5 phones on it, so I have some leverage.

I get great deals on all sorts of cell phone stuff at http://www.cellphoneshop.net. I usually pick up covers and keypads, as well as spare batteries and such, because my job, and my hobbies (hunting, shooting, and racing) are both hard on phones.

I got a new Nokia on friday. Its the Nokia 6300. Its small, with a GREAT screen, and it is not a flip-phone. I can highly recomend it. I need two phones, and this is the one i use when out clubbing or any place were my big everyday phone is not practical.
