Fuel tank choices and fuel porking.
« on: June 17, 2007, 12:12:05 AM »
i rekon it would be pretty neat if we could select each fuel tank for our plane in the hanger and then select how much fuel to pump into each tank on a scale of gallons.

for example when i Fly a P47 i was taught a trick when flying with 100%. save half of my aux tank so that if main fuel gets hit i can fly home.
Now a problem for me currently is if you fly with 75% you have no aux tank to save and unless youre flying long range 100% is too much to survive with.

in the spitfire mk8, lets say i would like to load X gallons fuel but not fill any into the wingtanks, put it all in the top and bottom.

As far as how this would affect fuel porking, well it would be the same simple system, instead of a percentage being porked down in step it could be a maximum gallons loadable into all tanks combined.

lets say the fuel at a field had been porked half way, instead of it being 50% max it would be X gallons max. players would then use a slide bar for each fuel tank of the chosen plane. Now at 50% porked fuel settings of those X gallons available per plane you would be able to load Y gallons into the main tank and Z gallons into the aux tank as a little spare for back up.

what do people think? would add a huge feeling of freedom to be allowed to load up with 65% of your max fuel load in your chosen tanks.

It was better back when you could pork fuel down to 25%. All the whiny crybabies kicked and screamed long enough to HT that he changed it to where you cant drop fuel under 75%.

I hate maths :)

i was just thinking last time i went flying in a cessna, that the fuel is loaded by the gallon or litre and not by 25% increments.

If you take a P47 with 25% fuel and get a main fuel hit, you wont make it further than another 2 mins of power, max. In real life if you were flying with a 25% of the Jug's total fuel capacity loaded you would surely have the option to load a few gallons into the Aux fuel tank as well as the Main.

you wouldnt need to really do any maths, all it would need would be a list of fuel tanks next to the plane in the hanger, and the ability to fill or empty which ever tanks you want.

Love the idea! Especially considering the more fuel options. 25% in a B-17G is too little, but 50% is FAR too much. I like any idea that allows you to put in what you need, and not be carrying an extra 500+lbs

Love the IDEA!

I also think that the same should be available for ammo loadouts........

For e.g.: 500rpg in a P38 is too much IMHO, but 200 is too less......I would personally put in something like 350 rpg.

I wish this was implemented. And the exact load out of which tank.

Nice idea Bat:aok
Forgot who said this while trying to take a base, but the quote goes like this. "I cant help you with ack, Im not in attack mode" This is with only 2 ack up in the town while troops were there, waiting. The rest of the town was down.
