Performance Question: Game vs. PC Quality ?

I've noticed with the faster planes I have taken out on combat sorties, at their ideal performance altitudes, I get caught on long, flat out escapes by inferior planes.  Either the performance graph curves are incorrect or there is a difference between better performing computers and their connection quality to an older PC such as mine is.  I have DSL, my connection is fine, well, up to snuff as far as my ISP is concerned.  

A possible answer is, I'm carrying more gas than the local yokels at a defending airfield, therefore I'm heavier and slower, and the graphs do not take fuel load into consideration.  

The planes I noticed this in were the La-7 and the FW-190D-9 .

I usually fly F6F or C205, as far as dweeb factor is concerned, for those that will force the insult issue.

Both the La-7 and Dora 9 are blazing fast at lower alts.  Not sure why
you would consider them inferior planes to the F6F or Mc-205 at least in
regards to speed.

If you are saying that you were flying Las or Doras and got caught, perhaps
you misjudged E states or were caught by a superior accelerating aircraft.

F6's are BRUTAL to get away from if they have alt--for a very NON-aerodynamic-looking plane, it hangs onto E for heap long time

All has to do with  E . Was enemy already in a 10k dive when you tried to escape?

Comes down to E states, Altitude, and pilot skill for flying smooth.

If one pilots is constantly making small corrections, each of those corrections = energy lost, they add up, the effect is cumulative to some degree. If the other guy sets his autopilot, or flys very very smooth with few corrections. He's inducing less drag, so he's slowly going to catch up.

If he caught you, chances are you misjudged one of the above if not more.

 I'd say about 90% or more of such "strange" or "inexplicable" instances are most totally due to one's own malinformation or lack of understanding.

For instance, he could have come out of a high-speed dive quite some time ago, and when he showed up he was level with you but still retained an extra hundred miles per hour or so.  Or as suggested he probably out-accelerated you.  The P-38L is much faster than the Spitfire Mark V, yet I never can get away from one unless I have a significant energy advantage because in Aces High II, the Spitfire Mark V accelerates far, far better than the P-38.

Maybe back ago when it was modeled with +16lbs boost. But now it doesn't.

Most you guys, it's like playing "telephone" :

I stated F6F & C205 as my usual rides because I knew some guys here would bust my chops flying a dweeb ride of a LA7.  These planes (F6F & C205) are not part of the equation concerning the question I asked.

Last night I was on a flat out run for several minutes, two guys chasing me.  I was in a FW 190D-9 (fast).  No chance I'm going to win anything but a 1 on 1 encounter so I bugged out.  One guy was in a La7.  All "E" advantage is not an issue, several minutes doing a chase.  I stayed ahead of them and pestered them on range channel.  About 4K out, they gave up.  At which time I reversed and got them both!

I still think PC differences and ISP connection determines a lot how this game is played and who wins.

MA is about speed.  Too bad I gotta' resort to dweeb rides to get points.  Why nobody (few) play in A vs. A is because more balanced plane sets against opponents.  Same is true in EW.

Ah, yes, points don't matter...

Actually its all about teamwork.

A group of decent sticks in P40's would own most anyone they fought.

Speed is the key if you're going to 'lone wolf' around.

Hi,

in a horizontal flight it need more than some minutes to accelerate to Vmax. So if the enemys already was on Vmax or above it, it need ages to outrun them if you still accelerate and dont have the possibility to dive.

Nevertheless i also think that the connection is a aspect regarding the plane performences, but i dont think its fast "connection/ fast PC" related.

Some years ago i was making 1 vs 1 dogfight training with a squaddi, we both did fly 109G2´s with same fuelload and the fight was realy on the edge. Strangewise my friend always could turn, climb and accelerate a little bit faster than me. No matter what i did, i felt like flying a more heavy plane. We did discuss this and came to the conclusion that he made a beter E-fight and so he always won(we did fight for long time, i wasted maybe 6-8 planes).
The next days we did repeat this and to our suprise it was exactl the other way around. Now my plane could do all things a very little bit better. Later we found this strange advantage switch without a clear rule and sometimes the combat results was very even, but if one of us had this advantage, the other dont had a other possibility to win,  than with a headon.

Similar things i saw later very often. Some day´s i get into a room and get all and everyone without big problems, sometimes in a way that iam suprised how easy it is, the next day i even have problems to get a kill from a perfect shooting position. If i see such extreme results, i leave the room and rejoin, often its better then.

Since we never made tests regarding the influence of this phenomenon to the Vmax i cant say, if it also get influenced.
