Went out Saturday to catch the sunset and look for spots for today's sunrise.

...and a self portrait (shot at 9:20PM using a handheld remote and a 30 second exposure):

Great lookin shots BTW!!!
It's been said we have three brains, one cobbled on top of the next. The stem is first, the reptilian brain; then the mammalian cerebellum; finally the over developed cerebral cortex.  They don't work together in awfully good harmony - hence ax murders, mobs, and socialism.

Quit your day job.

Become a photographer.

Become an art legend in 20 years.

Starve for the next 20 years.

Awesome, awesome pics there Sandy.

What's the price range of the D50 or equivilant?

The D50 was Nikon's low-end DSLR until they introduced the D40. I spent about $1000 on the camera body, a couple of lenses, and the memory card.

You can find D40s with a single kit lens for about $500.

They've discontinued the D50. If I had it to do all over again, I'd probably go for a D80 and a single lens, maybe the 18-135.

I tell ya... you couldn't see that when I was shooting. By 9:20, the sun had already set for over an hour.

I was trying to shoot the road, but it was too dark and I couldn't see anything to focus on... so I put it on auto-focus and gave it something to focus on... me.

Sometimes, you just get lucky.

Oh... and I should add... these images have all been photoshopped to some extent. Some are also HDR.

Photoshopping is just the digital equivilant to darkroom techniques.  The Paint The Sky pic in particular, I think, is amazing.

Awesome photos! I used to live in Trona for a little when I was younger. Was recruited out of Ridgecrest. Excellent work there bro. Mind if I use it as wallpaper and screen saver?
