Rank reset
« on: July 12, 2007, 07:43:47 AM »
Logged in about 10 pm Eastern time yesterday, to find that a very un-FinRus group of planes was enabled.  Somehow the arena got porked, I guess.  I reloaded Panzzer's tables to make everything right again, but, as someone pointed out, this had the effect of resetting everyone's rank.

Sorry 'bout that, but not a lot of choices.

- oldman (I think that my personal rank must have gone up when everyone was reset to zero)

Rank shmank

I've posted about this before and don't want to belabor the point but it seemed to slip by without comment.

The ability to deem a base "uncaptureable" is now built into the code base. It follows that a permanent solution to the pork-till-reset problem is possible.

Being that the solution can be implemented once and the problem can/will occur repeatedly, the time spent fixing the problem will certainly be less than the time spent dealing with the problem, thereby saving our underpaid and under appreciated volunteer staffers precious time.

Hi chaps!

The individual pilot rank system in AvA is totally unnecessary and a bit absurd IMHO...My rankings prove that. :lol

Keep track of scores, even Squad Rankings, I think that something migth be of some interest for those that - like myself - break their sticks and have nothing better to do and start building and analysing statistics (I'm a statistics freak, I admit)...

I must say that I agree with Kong: make some bases uncapturable, this way arena porkers will not be able to do their thing and, not knowing about it they will stay longer pursuiting their evil plans, giving us a chance to get some of them... :D

Most of those things are up to HTC to decide. We (AvA Staff) can up the number of troops required to capture a base or we can disable the troop carriers from the plane list, but the scoring system is the same as it is in the MA's and resets every month.

But if we disabled the rank system in the AvA, that would lessen the workload of the HTC staff, maybe we could bring that up in one of our frequent communications. :)

I don't think it was a cap bug.  Like Oldman said there were inappropriate planes available (I upped a Judy just for fun) so that points to somethign else.
