Join organized missions, or just hook up with groups and squads that work on base capturing. Want to get good in fighters (I personally think this is the hardest and most rewarding part of the game) , and forget about capturing bases? Talk to the trainers, and hook up with an air to air squad.

Whatever you want.

Hey Sim,

Forgive me as I'm a bit boozed up after working in 105 degree heat today.

But, you put it best as far as what this game is. Thank you.

some very good advice so far,

the one thing i can say is take your time, dont just join the first squad that happens to let you in, fly for ALL the contries, meet all the different sticks, see what you enjoy,  then in time you will know what you enjoy about the game, and work towards that aspect.

best advice though is have fun

some good advice there.  i can tell you that when i first started playing this game, i was all about strat.....now complete opposite.  if i was to do it all again, i would just save myself some time and just be a furballer.  not to take anything away from the strat guys.  it's all preference, and good advice as well from ink.

welcome aboard!!!

First and foremost don't let what anybody says on these boards pre prejudice you against any particular squad.  There are good people in every one and I've had the pleasure to fly with and against some of the 'nastiest' people in the game.

Find an aspect of the game you enjoy and try to add something to it.

Realize that you're going to get shot down a lot at first and probably for the rest of your 'career' because there's always somebody either better than you or, in a furball, better situated than you.

READ READ READ all of the data that is available on the trainers site and netaces then, after a few months of flying, go back and read it again.  It will make more sense.

The trainer corps are a great group of people and are always willing to help a new pilot.  As are a lot of other people in game.

You can usually find me in either the TA or the AVA so if you see me feel free to ask me any questions, wing up, or dispatch me to the tower.

Good luck and glad you joined us.

Welcome to the show.
Enjoy.

Forgot who said this while trying to take a base, but the quote goes like this. "I cant help you with ack, Im not in attack mode" This is with only 2 ack up in the town while troops were there, waiting. The rest of the town was down.

Thanks so much for all of the replies, you really have no idea how much it is helping guys (and gals?).  I have a joystick with dual throttle controls, so right now im trying to map my two engines for my P38:D .

Once again, thanks guys.

Oh, and is there any advantage/disadvantage for flying for one side or the other, or is it just how many people are on your "team" and what planes are affected by eny (and how do you pronounce that <----, I always say envy but i don't think thats right).

Well I'm off to practice, thanks everybody.

The first thing I do when I log on is go pick a plane or vehicle and go shot someone or something down.

Hope that helps.

Have fun.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

There is no advantage to flying with one country over another. They all have their good folk, jerks, land grabbers, furballers, GVer's and so on. Each side will at one time or another be hit with ENY  restrictions, and will also have the main horde of the map. Each will slao have control of the map due to base count as well as be the team in the hole about to be reset. The numbers and the game changes day to day.

Just jump in and have some fun, thats what its all about ! :aok

Ok guys still searching for my first kill lol.  I have a few questions though.

First, why does it seem like I can never manuever?  For example im in a 38L, full throttle and at say 6-7 k.  Im crusing along and an oppent flies over me.  I want to pull and Immelman, but it seems like as soon as I start to pull up just a little bit, i get a sound like errrrrrr which i assume to be the game telling me i can't pull up that hard or ill stall.  I have stall limiter off, so im not sure whats going on.  I've tried adding a notch of flaps and it sometimes works, but im just no sure if im going to fast to be able to manuever or what.

Second question.  How do I change sides, from like rooks to bishops or vice versa?

Oh, and I usually have a frame rate of like 60-65 ish when im by myself but when i go to a base thats under attack and i up and theres like 15-20 people around, my fr drops to like 20-30ish, and people tend to warp around and stuff.  Is lag (my pings usually 65-67) or is this becuase my frame rate is low.  If its the frame rate, what graphics card do you guys reccomend and how much is it?

Oh, and which plane is the Bf 109 G10, I can't seem to find it, did the name change?

Thanks for the help everybody.
