What if checking the AFK check box immobilizes you and doesn't count you for ENY calculations while your set to AFK. When set to AFK you wont be able to leave the tower - to stop people setting AFK then taking off. If you are idle in the tower for more than X mins (eg no movement, no typing etc) without setting AFK then you will get logged out. Those who are set to AFK wont be. Best of both worlds.

At the moment setting AFK just makes your name red in the vox window, you can still fly, and are still counted for ENY calculations.

But those people will still block other players from entering the arena, which is a much bigger problem for me than ENY restrictions.
I can always find a plane to fly regardless of ENY, but it thoroughly hate it being discoe'd while frantically defending a distant field and then not being able to reenter anrea for an hour or so.

True. Guess curing the effect of tower queens on both ENY and cap limits whilst still allowing them to stay in an arena is not feasible. Kick em out to the 'choose arena' screen then :D

Better Idea:
When trying to log into a full arena, the program displays a list of all pilots in that very arena. You can then choose who's to be kicked, so that you can enter.

System: Lusche booted you while entering Arena.

I can't imagine that Hitech will ever set this game up so as to kick people out of an arena. They are paying customers, regardless of how you see it changing gameplay or ENY limitations.

It would be a huge source of whining and frustration and a public relations nightmare.

I agree that ENY as it exists now is not working and needs changing.
Kicking people who for whatever reason are not currently flying is not the answer.

Anyone who flew AW on AOL in its free days can tell you about being kicked from inactivity. Many dropped AOL as soon as AW went to gamestorm because of it.
So no to kicking.

But still kind of relevant...

Didn't AW used to kick you off for AFK?

I like to see 10- 15 mins till boot.  But u have to be idle meaning no joystick, mouse, or keyboard input for that duration.  So if u are planing a mission for 20 mins, chances are u won't get booted because u have press a key or talked on vox within that time limit.  Same for gun positions on CV's, no input from any device that is used in AH kicks u out.

I've got an easy fix for that, tape a cat toy to the joystick. ;)

Wouldn't work.  The people that are just sitting around waiting for perks would just up an M3 or something way in the back of the country and leave it parked under a tree.

I agree squatting for perks is pretty lame, but I don't see an auto-kick fixing it.

And pretty dumb, as you get your perks even when not online at reset.
