TxDad & I operate the same. We don't really give one another gifts at the expected dates ~ but instead give them throughout the year. Always a surprise that way. Makes it verrry nice.

indeed.  every now and again I come across some really special things.  frau storch is a working class girl and doesn't really have much use for baubles and such but I was persuaded by a customer to trade a residential gate and access control system which cost me about $5000.00 to deliver for an 18 carat white gold tennis bracelet containing just under ten carats in diamonds.  that present got me dragged to quiet places for a while.  she is a pretty woman and it looks great on her wrist as she digs in her garden. :D

Not necessarily.

If those diamonds are all tiny but add up to 10 carats it may only be worth a couple of hundred.

Carats only mean anything if you are talking single stones...and you need to check clarity etc.

....but why am I telling you that...you already know.

BG ~ I meant YOU were very nice... not the bracelet.
It's something pretty great to give up a fancy gadget for a wife's bracelet (regardless of how nice the bracelet is).
