Memorising head position with trackIR
« on: July 11, 2007, 04:48:25 AM »
Can't be possible to raise the default head position for TrackIR user ?

For now to raise a little the head position I've to lower my head ,recentre trackIR and finally put back my head in the normal position.

The ability to lower/raise the on the Z axis and memorise should be enough.

Yup i am doing this too.

Basically i think I would want the option to raise and lower the seat and fix it.

I still have problems using Trak IR to look either side of the tail.

The head motion required is counter intuitive....... and of course the one time you really want ease of (trak IR) use is when your trying to locate that bogie on your 6.

similarly when looking over the wing its wierd having to have move the head to one side instead of forward.

It would be neat if the (plan view) XY motion was based upon the present (developed) location of the rotational head position.

or have I missed a trick in the set up?

Sounds like that to me, especially when stating "The head motion required is counter intuitive". I'm not even sure what you do mean with this.
All movements are intuitive to me just like real life. IF I want to look back at my six over my left virtual shoulder, I just turn my head to the left and lean a bit to that side to view aroudn the headrest.

As lusche said there is nothing unnatural for me when using TrackIR post my setting in TrackIR and in game this evening.

A little trick I use to check my 6 usually I lean forward/ahead to maximize the viewable area and after I turn my heard right/left.

If I turn my head to look at my 6 I see it..........np.

If I then want to move my head to one side (whilst looking back) to look behind my tail the motion is counter intuitive. A right ward side movement when looking back produces a leftward one on screen.

to summarise

when looking forward.

move head right.....on screen head moves right

When rotated looking over right wing

move head right.....on screen head moves forward (towards the right wing)

When rotated to rear (from the right wing)

move head right.... on screen head moves left (toward the right elevator)

This becomes more counter intuitive the more I rotate the view.

Pleeeeeeaaaaaaaassssssse tell me there is some thing in set up I have missed and that I can resolve this

Sounds like..
Options-Preferences-View Options- "TrackIr Object Relative Move" box is checked. If yes, uncheck it.

My saviour!.........it works! a whole new world of "non object relative move" opens before me

jeez I have been playing in this mixed up view world for months!

Please ignore my above posts...........although setting the seat height separately to Trak IR would be nice.
