Another disco, in hangar again. This time:

Within 30 secs of disco, 12.122.12.74 (an ATT IP) spiked to 227, and within 2minutes 63.241.192.202 spiked to 529.

another one, trying to land. This time the last hop peaked at 427 within 45 secs after the disco.

Note -- 3 discos in 60 minutes.

I don't know if your using a router, but i was having alot of problems with disco's too.

Try going to the router website, and download the latest firmware if you are.

Also check to make sure it's encrypted so no one else is jacking your signal.

Also, try using fsautostart to shut down processes, and end programs instead of task manager. I noticed when just using task manager that some programs still had things running in the background. fsautstart seems to shut them down at the "root".

I see 63.241.192.202 is a problem spot for me also . Just the last month and a half it's been like this . Sometimes my lines flat , other times I lose alot of packets . I try my dialup and it's usually not good at the same times that my broadband is bad too .

Also another bad spot for me is 4.79.14.5 , got car2.Detroit .

And sometimes the Chicago spots just past that one is not to hot either .

I was blameing my isp at first but it seems the net is in bad order atm ???

I know it's bad enough at times I bought IL2 1946 to play offline durning the bad times

Having a fit to get that stupid thing to respond to my joystick more like AH though . So far I have the sliders at 1,2,3,4,5 etc and it still seems to move the plane to fast .

Hope this net thing gets better soon . Maybe we have to wait till school starts , who knows ?

Did try full router reset, no joy. I'll double check on the firmware.

If this is the internet having PMS, its the worse I've ever seen.

Is that what's up, skuzzy? And is the problem hop a spot you folks have any influence over...I notice its the last one before your server, just wondering.

Skuzzy or other tech savvy guru:

Would appreciate even a one word opinion on where I should place the blame for this problem -- "your Machine," "connection/ISP," or "the internet" would be helpful. I suspect the latter, but I hate to stop looking if the data I've posted implies something I actually CAN influence or correct.

It really frustrating -- every 20 minutes at times.

Routers don't last forever. Mine last between 12-18 months depending on model. To test it, connect your computer strait to the modem, and run your ping plts again. Thats just one more thing to test. I know when my modem went, and each time the routers were crapping out, I started getting a lot of discos.

Ping Plots are great to see where trouble may be happening, but try getting an ISP to look at one

If it looks like the internet is crappin g out on ya, it my be due to the extra traffic of all those "kiddies" playing on their computer instead of outside where they belong

Is mid june when your problems started? This could be why.

Thanks for the suggestion...but no joy.

Still got disco'd, and still having lots of problems from that last hop before AH server. While the mean for the entire run is in the 70s, the monster at 63.241.192.198 ( a server at "attens.net") is killing me with spikes out to 991!!

Is there any way to get the plot to reset its path? Kinda like when you reboot to get a new address assigned inside a network? Cause this last hop is a nightmare.............

I think Skuzzy said that if its the next to the last hop, then its most likely a return path problem. Email him your IP and ask him to ping back to you, maybe he'll find something.

Well, the problem is solved, from a completely unexpected direction. The big clue came when I noticed that the "right click on icon--->properties-->find target" didnt work anymore. That got me thinking, and I decided to go to a mirror backup of the entire hard drive.

That worked. Absolutely no discos at all. In short, it appears that subtle corruption in Windows XP showed up with progressively worsening connection stability.

So I've recovered everything, restored a stable copy of windows, and I'm back in the skies ....rusty, but flying!
