it is the most concise and simplest explanation I have ever seen.

Given the constant reposting and rehashing perhaps everyone should just read this one and be done with it.

The debate is a pain. If you want to call this a Sim and not just another video game, then both airplanes should be destroyed - as they would have been in the real world.

it would be incredibly gamey if on your PC, your planes where nowhere near colliding, yet you died anyway, because on the other guy's PC, due to internet lag, it appeared as though you both collided.

it would be a dumb arcade game feature if you both died in a collision, seeing as most of the time, one of the guys didn't even 'see' the collision on his PC

the collision model as it is atm, is as perfect and fair as is humanly possible

1. It's a game , get over it.
2. It's the best compromise for a just under light speed internet.

I normally dont mind the collision modelling...

However the other day I was in fight and con on my six..

He comes in a barrel roll over the top, he hits me from behind and I go down... As it runed out we both went down.. Didnt understand that one..

I even got the...

"you have collided"

"#### Has collided with you"

But it is what it is...

I understand data transmission on the Internet is between 40% and 60% of light speed, depending on how fast the routers on a given path are.

unfortunatly, this even goes if he warps into ya.....i was in a spit defending tonight, and was out of cnnon....so i closed to 200 on this tbm, and was annoying him with my spitballs, when he warped from 200 to...whelp.......0......and yes i do have film this time:D
not complaining just for the record.....i did actually get the kill on him from this...but took a pilot wound in the process.........

No weapon damage done...

I just didnt understand how I could have collided with the other guy when I was in a roll and he rammed into my tail...

I dont think I collided I beleive he collided with me..

I have seen messages #### Has collided with you....

Just dont understand how I collide with someone travelling in the same direction as me??

You know wasnt like I backed into him at 300MPH

:aok

But im no computer savvy guy Im lucky I can log on and type here let alone really understand how it all works..

No real worries the new plane was free!!!

sgt203,

You are thinking in a real world traffic, at fault, manner.

You need to put that aside and look at it like a computer.

The computer doesn't care at all who was going which way or what parts collided.  All the computer cares about is if there was a collision.  On your system there was a collision.  On his system there was not.  Hence, you collided with him.  No fault, just a statement of which person's front end detected a collision.
