I will be going to Germany (Hannover) immediately after X-mas, and will be staying over new years for two weeks.

I am looking to leave within a day or two after X-mas.  This will be my first time ever doing any international travel.

Are there any days of the week better than the others to travel internationally for convience and maybe to find a cheaper flight?

You have picked a terrible time to travel.  Try Luftansa, and give them some options.   They can hook you up...Also, British Air used to be cheap.

Learn this..    " Kann Ich einen Bier haben?  "  When "something is delivered", say this.. " Vielen Danke!".   Hand over money, repeat.

The most reasonable round trips with best all around service is with Singapore Air. Not only is the service great, but all the stewardesses are HOT!!!!

Anyway, many ways to get to Germany. If you are heading for Hannover from the USA, there are many ways, and some fun ones too, of course depending on your time.
You can go over Britain or Iceland, (and also in that case even France, or Denmark) and then hop onwards with the low-price companies. Or you can take it straight.
Hannover has an airport, Hamburg is not that far away either.
Go looking and post, will be of as much help as my time allows.

Where ya going in Deutschland?  I was just there a few months ago, great fun.

Probably not Lufthansa.
BTW, I flew 2 legs with Lufthansa and there were 2 things I noticed.
1: They flew high, 39K
2: The seats were comfy and more legspace.

Oh, it was an Airbus BTW.

What kind of Airbus? Not sure, it was back in 1993.
Been cruising at 39K later, in a fully-loaded freighter 747. Sort of brings back the question: what is their ceiling. I have heard it claimed that a light 747 crawled above 50K. Anyone?

The 747-100/200 series has a ceiling of 45k though maybe the Boeing spokes person Rip might know.

And that airfare was flying United over and Luffthansa back...

I'll be leaving out of Kennedy or Newark.  Whatever is cheaper.  As of now it looks like i can get a round trip for 530-660 US.
