I forgot,

Is building SEA maps exclusively Cm team job, or are we able to submit SEA maps?

Kind of the other way around really, Cro... The CMs build will only build for the SEA, but that doesn't mean that only they can do it.

Anyone is free to build a terrain for an SEA event, if they so desire. If you have an idea for a special event, please feel free to contact one of the CMs to discuss. The Terrain Team will help if needed, or even offer to do it for you, depending on what you've got in mind.

Likewise, if you had a desire to build something for the AvA, those guys in there would surely appreciate it.

Hmm,

So Ava maps can be submitted separately, not as Sea maps, but can they contain custom objects, textures etc.?

Yup... rules are pretty open for SEA and AvA terrains. :)

Ideally, a terrain for the AvA and SEA are interchangeable; i.e., they are both used in a similar fashion by either the AvA staff or the CMs, they both support a 2-sided war with quasi-historical contexts.

They don't need to be completely historical, though.

I would suggest making a MA terrain before moving on to SEA or AvA terrains. H2H maps are completely different than online maps, and it would help if you knew how to properly make an online map.

Like the quote in my signature says,

I have tried making MA maps, i know how it works, but i do not like the idea of them being so strictly balanced. That's why i am looking to make a historical 2 side map, sea or ava.
I'm still waiting for skuzzy to review field placement on one of my MA maps.

You are much more free in making Sea maps, which makes it more fun while making it, and i make maps only for my own fun;)

I also hope you take into consideration the fun of those you intend to fly on the map. When you get into the "freedom" of SEA and AvA maps, you need to consider any and every scenario that it may be used for. Frame Rates (especially with more than 8 players flying on the terrain, with skins, etc.). Historical applications. Balance still is a factor. File Size.
