I wonder what made that beetle so special to add to the collection?

Looks like a '50s Ferrari to me, although a quick search did not give any results that matched this one exactly.

Bears a strong resemblance to this one though. Anyone recognize the logo on the grille?

Good call Airscrew. The first one appears to be a Flaminia and the second an Appia. Attractive cars. The Flaminia looks alot like A Ferrari 250 to me. Probably no accident that.

The real story behind these photos is a little less exciting than the one we had been operating under.

The guy was an auto dealer, had built this collection up over time, and had just recently paid a photographer to document the collection.

This is the kind of collection everyone in neighboring towns knows about.

This is like finding a barn full of 109's!!!!
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

I just now saw this thread heh. Pretty cool collection of cars imo. To bad the story turned out to be:

The original premise was a neat story. If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is. ;)

There was a guy I knew in the Air Force that grew up in rural Vermont. One of his neighbors tore down their barn just because it was so old, really really old.

Inside the walls they found several hundred muskets still wrapped in oilskins from the Revolutionary war.
