Mensa180,

The author, in a pre release interview, said she was tentatively planning to revisit that particular "world", just not with potter. That may explain the "holes" in the epilogue.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

I think Dumbledore's Army is the key.  I could see a series that takes place at Hogwarts over the period of the year that Book 7 happens, or picks up immediately after that and follows those young'ns to graduation.

This is assuming, of course, that Ms. Rowling can find a reinforced wheelbarrow strong enough to cart additional crates of hundred dollar bills back to her house from her publisher.

My wife and I had been trading off reading and today I pretty much hogged the book and finished it off.

It’s a great book; probably the best of the series and had a great ending.

My oldest daughter is seven and has read book 1.  She’s dying to read the rest; we’ll let her read #2 when she turns 8 in a few weeks.

On Friday we dressed up the kids and drove North to Hudson, Ohio where a Harry Potter book release festival was taking place throughout the entire downtown.

A typical crowd at the festival on one of many streets.

Great pics and congrats on a very happy looking bunch o kids!

I just got all 7 books in audio book form so that my wife can listen to them.
My son loves them and he told her so much about them she wants to try them.

hmmm amazing folks get that excited about a book. Didn't see anyone in Texas doing that although somewhere they might have.

Don't get me wrong.... the movies seem like great shows for the kids which means the whole family can go.

My wife and I decided long ago that our children would not be allowed to watch any HP movie till they had read the book first. I really think that these are the best children’s/teen books ever. Even as an adult I can’t recall better books. I encourage you to read the books for yourself; you will enjoy it so much more.

Eskimo, keep in mind that some of the folks here think it's fashionable to crap on the HP books.  "It's just a gawdamned kids book" they'll mumble, while rocking back and forth on their porches and typing away on their old Compaq laptop.  The plastic tumbler of Jack Daniels w/ ice will sit on the porch railing next to them, sweating in the humidity while they angrily peck away at their keyboards, telling you how nothing that's been published since the Turner Diaries has been worth a lick of spit, and they don't need something like a "book" sliding around in their Camaro later on when they're running some "dumb ricer" off the road near old man Jenkin's farm.  It might get caught under the brake pedal or some other damnfool thing right when they need it, and damned if some overpaid county coroner is going to tell anyone their body was recovered along with a book about "wizards and fairies".

Yea, Chairboy,

My first instincts usually are to shun anything popular.  I’m not interested in what’s hip or new, heck we just got our first cell phone.  I’d probably be all over pooping on HP and thought it all sounded pretty stupid till I picked up book 1 to see what the fuss was all about.  Actually, my wife started reading it first and said it was really good.  We tend to like the same kinds of things, (except I like slapstick and explosions a lot more).  Anyway, I understand the tendency, but if you’ve ever enjoyed reading anything, you’ll probably enjoy these books.

Yep, like I mentioned, I finished the 7th book at 1:30 Monday morning.  I look forward to seeing some of those scenes in the last quarter of the book on the big screen.

Except the big gay orgy at the end…  I don’t think I really want to see that.
What was HK Rowling thinking?  These books were originally intended for children and I’m sure most book 7 readers will be in their teens and have already been exposed to all kinds of kinky weirdness in the media, but man, that’s some pretty extreme stuff!  I guess maybe she figured that since this was the end of the series, she’s going to sell a zillion books no mater, she’s already the richest woman in Britain, why not go out with a bang?

I'll never look at a magic wand again the same way, not to mention reading what Mad-Eye did with his prosthetic....

I read it, and really liked it.  However, I had a couple problems with it.

Was Stan Shunpike a death eater after all?  What was up with all the casual usages of Unforgiveable Curses by the good guys?

Other then that, I loved it.
