Why is this , this way...anyone?
« on: August 07, 2007, 12:26:37 PM »
Earlywar 7/350
Midwar 14/350
Latewar Or.48/170
Latewar bl. 151/120

Why in the world are the caps...on the 2 LEAST used arenas 350...while the caps on the MOST used arenas stay low?

Just wondering

One would suspect that the EW and MW just have set caps while the LW cap adjusts due to numbers.

the LW arena caps increase as both of them get busy.  Looks like there are 120 open slots in the other LW arena.

Isn't it a constantly shifting number on each of the LW maps?

So on that snapshot below, blue was probably  up at 220 just a few minutes prior, with more than 150 in... and barely anyone in orange.

So blue cap drops to 120. As people leave blue, they're now above the cap & must go to the lesser occupied orange.

EW/MW will never get full (EVER) so the cap never changes.

Another reason could be that EW & MW only have one arena, while LW has two so they try to divide the population in half.

Wish they would just set the caps at a certain number and leave it the hec alone. To many times I would log on with cap at 320, check numbers and see 240 in that arena so I decide to pop into another arena to see what map or how the fights are going there. Decide to go right back to the arena I left, thinking there is at least 80 open slots only to find out it droped to 200 and it's over full. Extremely frustrating and IMO no need to have it set up this way. I have also logged on at the same time as my son and his will show LW cap of 420 or something and mine would show 320 and it being full. What's up with that?

Anyway, IMO the floating cap is a major downside.

they tried to have the caps set in the LW arenas too. What happened was when there was 400 people on, 350 were in one arnea, and 50 were in the other. It wasn't very much fun in the low numbered arena ( kinda like the EW and MW arenas are :D) and everyone who wasn't in the maxed out arena complained. So HTC set it up so the population in the 2 LW arenas climb more evenly.

Unfortunately as the numbers drop, you can get some weird cap numbers.

Setting the caps doesn't help.

You set 2 arenas to cap at 320, and one is going to have 320, the other is going to have 32.

The only reason to LOWER the cap is to squeaze more folks into the lower-player-arena.

It's MUCH better to have 2 LWA rooms "around" 200 players than to have one at 300 players and another at 100 players. Trust me, the variable cap is the ONLY reason we don't have one of the LWAs looking like the EW/MW.

I think HTC needs to remove the early and middle war aircraft from the Late War arena.   People like a particular ride? You'll find it in the proper era. :)

Flying a early war ride vs late war rides can be fun. And for many veteran players a way to stay motivated and to experience a bit of a challenge.

And being able to fly a 109F in EW only wouldn't help the EW arena at all.

I guess....Its just...I had like an hour to fly today....thats it...I log on..look for squaddies in the lobby and cant fly with em due to cap problems.

Just frustrating to say the least when your buds are on and ya cant fly with em cause of some cap.
