"In my Time of Darkness" Gram Parsons

"Long Dark Veil" (Lefty Dreisell?--I only know the version by  The Band)

"I Shall Be Released" Dylan (My favorite version is by Joe Cocker)

"Tangled Up in Blue"  Dylan

"The Thrill is Gone"  B.B. King

I've probably listened to each of the 100+ times in last 30 years, and NEVER get tired of hearing them again
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large numbers

It's hard for me to choose favorite songs, but when I do it's generally from these bands: The Beatles, AC/DC, and perhaps some others.

I don't like the "modern" music so much, just people either screaming, swearing, or a nasty combination of them both.

Beatles would have the one. Just which one?
Yesterday?
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

Interesting thread, but it is important to remember the subjective nature of the question and answer.

Basically a person can only offer a favorite or two.

Some that stand out for me:

Funeral for a Friend - Elton John
Bridge over Troubled Waters - S&G
Freebird - L Skynard
At this Moment - Billy Vera and the Beaters
"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"
