So last week I was in Malaysia for a vendor conference (Sonicwall). Had an awesome time.... but at a cost.
1st.... picked up campylobacter food poisoning eating some chicken at KL Int'l Airport.
So after 2 days of misery I see the quack, she pokes something called maxolon into me and gives me some tablets to take. Beauty, I stop vomiting and lose the nausea.
But, the day after I start convulsing down my right side, spasms, including my tongue which makes it difficult to breath. The spasms get so bad it looks like I'm having fits. In fact the doc on duty thought I was a psych patient because when I went back to the hospital he said I "had that psych look" about me.
Turns out me + maxonlon = bad mojo.
So they jab me with an antidote for the maxolon. Apparently it is a known side effect but not usually this bad. The jab doesn't do much, so they start arranged my transfer to the local Emergency Dept at the main hospital... 10 mins before the ambulanance arrives the antidote finally kicks in and up and about again.
Poor missus was in tears, they had me hooked up to an ECG while I was having massive spasms, she thought I was a goner.
Lesson learn't: don't eat the chicken in malaysia.
