Looking for an explanation
« on: August 18, 2007, 09:17:51 AM »
Okay, last night I was flying one of the LW arenas. I was saddled on someone's six with another person for about five minutes. He ended up getting the kill, I got the assist. We both witnessed the explosion followed by his kill and my assist message.

Followed immediately by a message stating that the individual we had just shot down landed three kills. Yes, I have a screenshot of the messages. Just wondering if this is some known bug I've never heard of or someone truly cheating somehow before I decide to report it.

Thanks.

Yes this is a known bug that has been occurring for some time.  It has nothing to do with the two of you both landing hits on the enemy. And has nothing to do with the "C" word.

Good to hear, I know the person involved at least in passing and he didn't strike me as the sort to do such a thing so thought I'd check before making waves as it was the first time I'd experienced it.

Yeah, this is one's been around a while. It's pretty rare, I think, but I've seen this both when I've killed someone, and when I've been killed. Nothing suspect going on.

I had it happen once and was just as surprised to get the "landed" message as you were to see it ... I am sure he was surprised too.

Has anyone managed to catch this on film? From what we've heard, that is THE way for HTC to debug rare events.

I got shot down one day in a 190 and immediately got a "you have successfully landed 3 kills message".  The other guy was going to report me until I explained that I was as surprised as he was.  I reported it in the bugs forum the next morning.

That's the only time I've seen this though so it's pretty rare.
