Mud mover?

Hey all,

I'm extremely new to AH, having only played it the past few nights in the free 8-player online servers. So far, AH is really growing on me, and I think that I prefer it over Warbirds III. However, before I make the plunge and pay for a subscription, I was wondering if someone could clear a few things up for me. First of all, I'm a heavy bomber nut...call me crazy, but I'd rather be in a 17 walking on flak over the target, than being the "little friends" duking it out below. I've seen a few screenshots of massive (and I mean massive) B-17 formations, and I'm really eager to be apart of them. Do they happen often? Are there any squads that specialize in bombers? Or if I pay for AH, will I be forced to fly fighters more often than bombers?

Thanks for the time, and I look forward to any feedback :aok

Welcome Eif!

There are squads that specialize in bombers, yes, and mostly you'll see B-24's, though I wish I knew what it felt like to play MA more often.

But I'm pretty sure you'll find some people ready and waiting in some Online arenas that are happy to give you a part in their LeMay box.

You could fly ONLY bombers if you so wished, there is no restriction on what you fly.

Hi Eif87,

If you do go for a paying account, look us up sometime, on knights, channel 144. Were an older crowd, that actually has broken into three divisions now. We also have a fighter element, and a gv/attack force. We actually interchange all roles, but if your looking for some bomber tactics, and help look us up. Good luck with your decision.

Cheers Mate.

PS, this game is extremely addictive, handle with care.
Forgot who said this while trying to take a base, but the quote goes like this. "I cant help you with ack, Im not in attack mode" This is with only 2 ack up in the town while troops were there, waiting. The rest of the town was down.

AH2 offers 2 free weeks of ALL arenas without a credit card.  Try it out.

...also, when you up in buffs, you can launch in a formation of 3.  The other 2 are slaved to which ever one you are currently flying and fighting in.

One thing that you will love about the bombers here over warbirds is that when one gets shot down you get moved into the drone bomber, if it gets shot down you man the third drone.  If i remember correctly warbirds had drones for bombers but you couldn't move to the drone and if you were shot down the drone disappeared.

We have a group that loves bombers. Look us up when you get here. Channel 199. You won't have any problems finding guys in AH that share your passion.
Good Luck and welcome.
Be careful what you shoot at. Most things
in here don't react too well to bullets.

If you are more into bombers than you are taking bases (ie you like high altitude strat runs even though they don't have a large impact on the map) then check out the 484th Bomb Group.

Unfortunately they haven't seen the light and still prefer the B-24 over the B-17 ;), but serious buff drivers they are.

you can fly whatever you like whenever you like here, and those big missions? you don't see a whole load of them, but it's because not many people take the time to organise them. whenever you like, you can organise a big group and run a big mission together :)

What was your Warbirds ID? And would you like to hook up with a group from Warbirds? (Ling in sig)
We field large escorted formations twice a week, if you interested. Just PM  me here, or on our forums. A good part of our squad is made up of old 550th BGH from warbirds.
