Japan 45, RAIN OF FIRE

After three and a half bloody years of savage combat on beaches, in jungles, on the seas and in the skies, the Allies at last are poised on the doorstep of Japan. By night, the full horror of their vengeance is visited on the islands' inhabitants as the mighty B-29s burn their cities to cinders. By day, the blue carrier planes and the silver long-range American fighters bomb and strafe the few remaining targets of significance.
Both sides know that the final amphibious assault of the war - the campaign that will cost a million American lives, and will destroy Japanese civilization - is only a few weeks away.

ALLIES

On carriers:
F6F-5 (all carriers)
F4U-1C (C77, C89)
F4U-1D (all carriers)
F4U-4 (C79, C90, C92, C95, C97)
FM2 (all carriers)
Seafire IIC (C78, C93, C99)
TBM (all carriers)

At air starts (A88, A122):
P-38L
P-47N
P-51D
B-24J (pretend it's a B-29)

AXIS

A6M5b
Ki-61
Ki-84
Nik2-J
B5N2
D3A1
Ki-67
M-16
Ostwind
(Note Axis air start is at A119)

NOTE ON AIR STARTS:

Look for the blue boxes out in the ocean. Each is associated with a land base (for Allies, typically on the bottom edge of the map). Each blue box has one square filled in. Go to the associated land base and take off in the direction of the filled-in box.
Note that each of the land bases has several air starts.
(For example, if an Allied player takes off from A122's north runway, he will begin in Sector 8,1; if he takes off to the northeast, he will begin in 12,1; to the northwest, at Sector 4,1.) You will begin high in the sky, by the blue box, with your gear down and your engine off. Remember to take care of those two things promptly.

The Japanese air starts are governed by A119, in Sector 6,12. The Allied air starts are at A88 (0,0) and A122 (8,0).

For playability purposes, Allied aircraft can land at A3. However, all aircraft are disabled at that base, so you cannot begin flight from there.

SETTINGS:

Radar: Historical
Visibility is 12 miles
Field Ack: low-level and puffy are both .25
Killshooter is on
Fuel burn rate is 1.0
Strat is disabled
The invasion hasn't come yet, so there are no vehicles available to capture bases.

Thanx Panzer, I do have 1 request, Sir........

when the different AvsA staff post the weekly setups some of them post both on the messageboards and on the MOTD/Arena Message what sides is what chess piece,

some AvsA staff only post it in the messageboard, but not anything in regards is on the MOTD/Arena Message & vice versa

and then some of you never post which chess piece is allied and which is Axis neither on the messageboards nor ingame in the MOTD/Arena Message.....

Now, is there some SOP that the AvsA could follow and at least announce the particular side with it's particular chess piece here on the boards, or at least in the MOTD/Arena Message if not both, and kind of  keeping it all with a same way of listing the historical/almost historical matchups.......

The Reason for my request......I see alot of players come in, most times they are in the 3rd country/chess piece and nothing is available to them, then they log off......

also another thing that would help is in the MOTD/Arena Message - post that both channels ie....Channel 200 tuned open country Text ch along with All country channel 1 are both visible in the AvsA,  mention though one does have to tune to channel 200 to see or type on it.....where as Channel 1 everyone can see it, but you can not type an answer unless you have one of your channel boxes tuned to Channel 1.......

I feel the AvsA actually loses alot of potential players from these defficiencys, they log in, most are tuned to 200, a  newcomer is unaware, types on Ch1 we all see it, but don't realize they are on channel 1, and respond on ch 200 without thinking, the guy asking never sees the answer then logs off as if he is being ignored........

sorry for the long rambling post.........just some observations, that if fine tuned might just help increase the numbers a bit.....seen alot of people log in, stay about 3 or 4 minutes then log off......and also think alot of it is due to lack of info in the MOTD/Arena Message at differing times and the fact regarding channel1/channel 200.......

hope this might help and liven up the AvsA some.......

really like this weeks setup btw, and thanks for all the AvsA efforts in running the show for us dweebs.......

Um, yes, I meant to have the countries there, Allies = Knights and Axis = Bishops. I'll go add those to the Arena Message as well. Channel 1 is now disabled, I'll also note that in the MOTD.

Thanks for the feedback, TC.

Oh, and the setup is now done, please report any problems here. Enjoy!

Hello, CrazyOWl.

Nothing much to it, just log in to the Axis vs Allies arena, choose a side (knights for the allied side) and take off. Obviously it'll be much easier to find a fight if there are some others in there... So go ahead and give it a try.

No, the country channel should work as usual, maybe they were busy in fight (just a guess). Tuesday and Thursday nights have usually had the most numbers, but any time you see someone in there feel free to hop in. Channel 1 is disabled, so most (but not all) people use channel 200 for cross-country communications.
