i think that you would be surprized what you would come up with if you scanned those slides to digital and edited them in an image editing program.
slide film takes super vibrant pictures, but until digital processing, it denied a photographer an uncomplicated post processing step where cropping, filtering, exposures, developement times, etc. really allowed an image to come to life.
photoshop is the modern equivelant of the darkroom.
it's definately worth a try.
