Dunno, it was us and another grp in the area, looks like you did a good job from what I saw on staying alive. Well done .

Might have been the USMC.  They went down there right at the end.

S! 613th.

Great flying over A9.

JG11 ran into you over the Axis CA TF I think.  Were you heavy for the cruiser?

We were defending with 2 other small squads and I'd like to know what happened from your POV.

Oh Damn!  We were OVER it?  ha ha ha.

We were looking for it when one group jumped us from 24k....we ran for our lives to keep our ords.   A few minutes later....3 A6M's came down on us and engaged us.    Some dropped the ords others kept them...then a few more A6M's came from up high....and then a few more.... by then we had lost 3 F4U's including our flight lead and second.     We were orderd to dump and run..... that left SCCA and myself without ord and acting as RECON.    When we got down to 1/2 hour fuel we headed to A9.

We never did "see" the CV.     I will have to check the film and see where we went wrong!

That was us (JG11) who jumped you.  You passed to far to the south of the crusier.  We kept an eye on the two remaining corsairs in your group, and believe we ran back into you later in frame over A-9. .

As Stampf mentioned, JG11 was the first group you made contact with.  When you blew by I was sure the CA was done for as we would never catch you.

As it happened you flew to the NW when the CA was to your N.  Just missed it.  We had 3 small groups around the CA that eventually found their way to you.

Just after you and Scca bugged out to the E (The CA was at your S by then) we refueled and met you again at A9.

Funny how chance plays into these events.
