Take control of plane in film

One of the great features in the old AW film was the ability to take control of your plane while watching the film. This had a number of great benefits for training.

One, you could take a plane up to 10k and stall it, then take control of you plane while watching the film to practice spin recovery. (This saves a lot of time, regaining alt, just rewind film, and start again.)

Second, it gives you the ability to work on other things, like,  blowing an approach, maybe I should have used a barrel roll, now I can take control and try the move, over and over again.

Practice gunnery on moving planes (Not Drones)

Bombing, dive bombing, and a host of other benefits.

I think this would be a super new feature.

Actually, I did search first, and didn't find anything. I even scrolled down the forum and didn't see any threads that related (or were titled in a way that I might think they were related)

I will look again, however, I would like to see what kind of response this idea received.

I would guess the issue might arise from the film viewer using the game engine, but not being in the game itself during viewing, but it is the wish list :)

Thanks,
Tachus

They did something similar in TIE Fighter.

Only that game had AI for the planes.

When recording fights against real people you and they were both reacting to each other. You break, they reverse, saddle up and shoot you down.

Now say you take over, you DON'T break, but the film only has what they did. They still reverse, head the other way after an imaginary target, fire into empty air, and all of a sudden you're dead because the film finally processed the damage information.

It just doesn't work. You change how you fly it, and you change how the rest of the film plays out.

Better to just go fly against that person again if you want to try something different.

Nope, AH doesn't have that feature.  I remember it from AW and it was a good training tool to be able to use.
