Whats In a Name
« Reply #195 on: August 27, 2007, 01:08:58 PM »
Well, I was at the mall the day before I signed up to play. Of course I was already thinking of what my handle was going to be. Well about that time this little old lady came up to me, in this weird looking cloak like outfit.
She walked straight up to me and said, "You seek a name, don't you"
Well at first I didn't know what to say.... so I just stood there for a second... Then she said again, "You seek a name don't you."
Well I was pretty freaked out, but I said "yes I do.. I do need a name."
So she said, "I knew you did, you shall call the boy Tim..."
I said, "What are you talking about."
She said, "You need a name for your baby... and you should call him Tim."
So I said, "Lady, I'm not having a baby, I just need a handle for Aces High..."
Then she looked at me and said, "Sorry, wrong guy...." and walked off.

So I picked Tachus

Best regards,

***Disclaimer, the above account is totally bogus, but is much more interesting than my earlier post concerning my handle. Thank You***

Moved from Ireland to California 6 years ago and discovered this bright object in the sky.  Didn't know what it was as there is usually a think blanket of cloud in Ireland.  While setting up my Xbox online account (Any old ghost recon players here) I used Solar in recognition of my new friend in the sky.

When bored of that I found AHII and decided to use Solar as my CPID.  Already taken I added 10 as this was my jersey number when I played Rugby back in the Emerald Isle.

when I first signed up in June 2001 I was MajWreck,...after my two weeks were up i decided I didnt like that name and spent a few days trying to come up with a name.  I wanted Trigger but someone already had that at the time and I didnt want any name with numbers to spoil it.
When  I was in the Air Force I worked in the dental clinic.  One of my jobs was to take care of the F-111 pilot's dental exam program at Mountain Home.  We used to refer to the pilots as airscrews and wingnuts.   Wingnuts was already taken so I got AirScrew.

In real life my friends call me "Fiver", due to "5" being the jersey number I choose on my summer softball team.  Doesn't really work so well in air combat sims though because it could mean something different... like someone is at your five o'clock or the like.

So I had to think of something else.

I went to school at and am still a big fan of Purdue University, particularly the football team.  The school's nickname is the Boilermakers, one of the "things we say" at football games (I tailgate before em all btw) is to cheer "Boiler Up!"

Now BoilerUp is 8 letters, but the fact of the matter is I get shot down way too much to be called "up" anything.  So BoilerDown it is... 8 characters reduces to Boildown... call sign invented!
Boildown

This is the Captain.  We have a lil' problem with our entry sequence so we may experience some slight turbulence and then... explode.

Boildown is Twitching: http://www.twitch.tv/boildown

I got mine because one day MacMaw and I were talking about getting me a new name (i was formaly WT54).   I didnt want a # in my name anymore.

So MacMaw and I were talking about how i became a Reverend on the internet.  After a few days of throwing out names we both thought of Jebus.  For those who dont get it.  Here it is.

The Manurin is a French built .357 caliber used by the French forces. Pronounced in French doesn't give the same when pronounced in English, but anyway...  :D

ManurHin is the correct spelling

Why straffo ?
Why not ? :D

I don' t remember really I think it come from the combination of an old teddy bear nickname and a chair.

For some reason Straffo always makes me think of those French Taunters in Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

But I don't mean that in a bad way. :)
Treize (pronounced 'trays')- because 'Treisprezece' is too long and even harder to pronounce.
