Two Seat Trainer?
« on: August 23, 2007, 11:52:53 PM »
Just wondering what you guys think about this idea.  I think it would be cool to have a two seat trainer, which would allow in essence both a trainer and a new pilot to sit in the same plane at the same time.  Say the trainer would take off in the back seat, and the new player would join his plane in the "front" seat.  The trainer could go through some moves so that the new player can see what they really should look like my experiencing it through the windshield.  The backseat has all authority over the front, so whenever a trainer would input controls it would override the front seat.

What do you guys think?  Would this be hard to implement besides creating a new plane, or could it be done to an existing one?  Good idea or no?

Thanks,

Just use the ".join name" command. Join a trainer, watch him do some maneuvers, unjoin, take a plane and try them.

D3a1 Val Japanese Dive bomber.

Already has the back seat.
Extremely aerobatic, loves the vertical, has a huge amount of ammo for popguns.

What we need are.

A Ability to lock passengers views to yours, so he see's what you see.

B Ability for passengers to have all gauges working correctly, and see tracers, hit sprites. So he can tell WHEN your shooting.

Well since the pilots are invisible when your sitting in the front anyway, it could be done with any plane.

For an example in training mode:

The pilot and trainee, both see the exact same thing in the front seat.
The pilot can explain everything he's doing, and the trainee can see everything the pilots doing, pretty much like how it is now i think, when you join someone.

The only difference would be that the trainer would have the ability to toggle on/off  the trainee's ability control the aircraft.
