Good point, but I was comparing it to the Jug :) (Now that's a BIG plane)

I found a great quote about the 47, concerning the arrival of the  348th Fighter Group in Australia on June 30th 1943.

Reportedly, as a P-47 pilot climbed down from the cockpit, one Aussie ground crewman inquired; "Where is the rest of the crew?"

Best regards

:lol

I knew that British pilots said that, to avoid enemy fire, the 47 pilot had only to begin running in the cockpit... or something like that! ;)

Back on topic, bottom word is: do not record. It seems that's what keeps crashing the game, combined with some particular situation, maybe ack firing... thinking about it, perhaps that is the only true constant in all the CTDs I had.

Yup, i suspect ack or gunfire. From what i can recall all ctds ive had in this and previous versions has been either when seeing gunfire from my own plane, other planes or ack. I have never had a ctd during normal flight.

Yup, seems to be a combination of filming and any kind of enemy fire. In every CTD i was filming and under fire by either ack or buff guns.

IT only happens when you are filming.  If you don't film, you won't crash.

It'll be interesting to see the bomber kill stats for this tour - there must have been lots of grateful bomber pilots, under attack from enemy planes, who were saved from certain death when the enemy planes vanished into thin air.

Or perhaps the bomber guns and ack have been beefed up, so that they can not only shoot down your plane, they can shoot you straight out of Aces High and make you reboot your computer!

I don't think it will be noticeable - The bug appeared very late this tour and most people are not recording at all.

I'm getting really bad stuttering (FPS drop from 70+ to 4) when exchanging gunfire with buffs or ground ack. Alt+tab fixes the problem, though this can entail lawndarting dramatically.
