LOL my arse off

Man i edit all my last thoughts about that F4U-C, Im not sure but i got shot down by it a few times today. It seems when thay ping you all of a sudden your plane just falls apart, you cant dog any of the shells like you can with other planes. I think thay are heat seaking or somthing. HTC needs to tone down the F4U-C. Im in the boat with the rest of you all.

There are  alot of options open for HTC, either tone down hispanos, or, create a historical arena where those who don't like quake birds can fly.  Give them time, and they will (historically) deliver!

What if <shudder> Pyro has the Hispanos EXACTLY right???

Not a popular thought among those of us who have NEVER flown an aircraft in combat, NEVER fired either machine guns or cannons in ground or air combat, in fact have NEVER "flown" anything but flight sims.

Boils down to "do you trust these guys to do the very best they can with the data and skills they have?".

There are three possibilities, right? The Hispano ballistics and/or leathality is UNDERMODELED, they "right on" or they are OVERMODELED. These could all be a matter of degree, too...a lot or a little.

What some apparently want is basically arbitrary "playbalance". Without a shred of evidence, data or experience, they want the Hispanos modified to what they happen to  think is "correct" or "better" or "more accurate". In short, they want it "their way" with nothing to substantiate their bias.

While some of these guys are unquestionably great sim pilots and perhaps even computer programmers, I haven't seen any ACM sim they have offered that is better than this one.

Sorry, I'm sticking with the guys that have actually delivered the two best on-line WW2 ACM games to date.

...and I'm asking them to make it a REAL as they can, given the data and experience they have. Don't arbitrarily modify programming that you feel is right, please!

Sure, if there are questions, re-check the data and programming. But if you find nothing and it's as good as you can do it...LEAVE IT ALONE! If that's the way it was, that's the way it was...the good pilots will adjust and press on!

Right now, Pyro IS re-checking the data. Why don't we just let him do his work without all the sniping?

Hispanos don't jam here like they did in RL.   Commonality of ammo is no concern here, either.

There was more than one reason the U.S. Navy didn't stay with the cannons...

Kieren,

Your point is well taken.

No malfunctions in aircraft systems are modeled, either.  Your magnetos never just crap out, the fuel tank transfer switch never fails, the "radios" are perfectly clear, the gear always comes down (unless battle damaged)....and the guns always work flawlessly, Brownings, Mausers and Hispanos.

I'm sure you've read there were early problems with the feed trays on the Brownings, too, particularly under G load.

I hope someday all this sort of stuff is modeled. Right now, no WW2 ACM sim does.

So, let's just ask them to model what they DO model as well as they can. Sure, make suggestions for improvement. Sure, question data if you have different information.

But threaten to quit because it's not playbalanced to one's particular prejudices?

Sheesh!

Yep Toad...

Pyro pretty clearly stated on Weazel's post that he is not going to cave in to whiners just for playability.  God bless him!

More arenas would be fun though.  Of course I don't see why F4U's wouldn't be allowed in those arenas to fight the Japanese...
