Here's another Swastika in an odd setting
Actually that's a film prop but it accurately represents a Dublin based Laundry van during WW2. The Swastika laundry remained in business for many years. I remember seeing the swastika bedecked vans in the sixties or seventies. Apparently it was set up in 1913 long before any Nazi connection was considered. There was a tall chimney over the laundry and that too featured a huge white swastika.
As an aside and continuing the barracks theme. The building in the background is part of the barracks where I served in the army reserve. That was an actual stores, where I received my first uniform. It also stored lots of old equipment. It was like a militaria treasure house. WW2 and WW1 equipment, webbing, helmets and bayonets. I wonder where they all went when they closed the barracks and converted into a college?
