BBS tied to subscription

I've asked for this before under someone else's thread.  Figured I'd start its own.

Can we please have forum names tied to actual subscription accounts???

It would free us from dealing with Bearing3, 7years, wolfcat5, or whatever his next incarnation is after you have to take the time to PNG his annoying non-subscribing *** one more time.

Wasn't BEARING3 Xbishsquaddie too? Or was that just another annoying squeaker?

Would love to see this put into reality though. Bearing goes to make another account and it says "Sorry that is not your game ID" :D  HA! Checkmate

Actually, there is a legitimate reason for doing this. BBSs, particularly those with private messaging, have become a favorite method for terrorist organizations to pass messages. It's cleaner than email as it leaves no file on your computer.

Back in Brand W, at one point the company owned the only forum where complaints, grievances, changes could be called for. They did tie subscription to bbs acct, if you closed your flying acct  you could no longer post.

You posted something they didn't like or agree with and they would png your bbs acct. And I don't mean anything bad like bearing, I mean simply calling for a change they didn't agree with.

Once you take that step, your freedom is gone.  You have 2 choices, you can either fly and say nothing, or you can leave and say nothing. Because they control who gets to talk.

Now, if HTC wanted to add a icon, or a persons current AH handle next to your  bbs id, that could be a good thing. People would quickly learn to use it accordingly. You could perhaps even put a limit on how many posts such an inactive pilot was allowed to make per day. Especially new threads. (like 1 or 2)

But to tie BBS posting rights to current AH subscription does away with a vast pool of people who have flown here for years. But may currently be on a break, or short of money, etc.  People who have flown here for years, paid their dues, and have a right to have their opinion heard.

I think its a really bad idea Tiger. Some BBS users are old players that for one reason or another has had to leave, but still keeps in touch with the community and then maybe ends up subscribing again later. I am one such person and if i didnt have the BBS i would prolly have forgotten about this game years ago. The community has as much to do with me signing up again as the game did when i got back a year ago.
