Whoopi Proves She's Stupid

From what I read it didnt sound like she was defending his actions, merely saying why He didnt think it was criminal because he may have always done it. Plus with it being her first day on the job, it wouldnt look good for her black audience to jump all over Vick. Im sure her producers are aware of that as well.

I love the way ppl that are not from the south, know all about us.They love to tell us what we like and what is normal for us.It is real entertaining when it comes from some jounalist that moved here 10 yrs ago from up north,and now believes they got a handle on what it is to be "Southern".
    According to a SPCA spokesperson I heard on the radio, there has been a marked decline in dogfighting in the rural south, and a huge increase in urban areas all across the nation. Rap/Hiphop  music has many labels that include pit bulls, and mean dog images, something to think about, when the old finger starts to get pointed.
    Location/ history does not  absolve one's actions.

She was commenting on how Vick seemed a bit slow to realize that what he was doing (dog fighting and torture/killing of the dogs) was wrong.

Oh I agree with you that Vick as well as his cohorts knew that what they were doing is illegal. They just didn't think it was as big big a deal as the rest of us. Apparently where he grew up dogfighting was considered a sport, hence his participation.
Some people just do things because they can get away with it as the prosecution rate is low or nearly nonexistent.
Drugs, prostitution, gambling, tax evasion, etc., people do sometimes because it has always been done. Kind of the environment/culture they were brought up in.

Now don't go putting words in my mouth here as I'm not excusing dog fighting at all. It's stupid. Vick got what he deserved.

Although I am now in Wyoming, I have lived 45 years in the Deep South and I can state with absolute certainty that anyone saying that "it's a Southern thing" is merely stating their abject ignorance.

How many years has Whoopi lived in the Deep South? How many years have you, MT? Or is this something you just read about somewhere?

I think I smell some uninformed prejudice here!

She wasn't stating that it was a 'southern only thing'.
She stated that where Vick came from it isn't unusual.
Her last sentence includes the South when she states "the entire country appreciate".
Seems there is a Whoopi witch hunt going on reading more into what she actually said.
